I personally like James' non-AVGN stuff more than his AVGN stuff.
I personally like James' non-AVGN stuff more than his AVGN stuff.
The AVGN is better now then when he started. Don't believe me? Go watch Double Dragon 3 or McKids or something and compare it with any video he's doing now. His videos are longer, more in-depth, higher production value and overall just a lot more interesting to watch.
I like the simplicity of his earlier reviews, yet I enjoy his entertaining newer reviews.
The Nerd is still good. Granted it would be great if he had costumes, guest stars, and special effects every time, but that takes a lot of work. I think in the case of the CD-i stuff, he was simply handcuffed by such a horrible system, it was difficult to say anything original about it. He's still about the only viral video I watch on the web with regularity.

I like it more when there are no costumes and guest stars. I just like it when it's just him and the games.
For instance, I loved the simplicity of the NES accessories one. It was simple yet hilarious.
He was grasping for anything in the CD-i review, but that was because there's not much to say about it.
Once he starts reviewing stuff that has depth, he'll be better. Still, I like his CD-i series, but I wish he would have reviewed other games.
I would have liked to see him review Voyeur, or Thunder in Paradise.
The Nerd will be at Magfest between January 1-4th

I don't understand exactly what is going on but if James want to stop doing AVGN, I respect that. Haters can't decide for him, James can do what he want with his character, with his camera, with his talent.
I did critic some reviews, but not the reviewers, except in one occasion. Some people don't see the difference, I do. I think it's better to be honest and say what you like and don't like rather than saying always "awesome" just because you are a fan. Supporting someone's work can be express in many ways. Some people don't like the computer voices I use for my video, I do like using them.
There is also the expectation. Some people want things to continue, they don't like things to change.
Some people like the swearing and punch lines with angry style, so when it's more a review or more acting, they don't like it. Personally, I prefer a review with more information, footage, and angry action than swearing and acting, well except if it's the punch line for the humor.
So, whatever you decide James, I will accept it. And if you do read this message, let me wish you a merry Christmas and a happy new year!
Take care,
Daniel

My Rpg Collection
Always looking for FACTORY SEALED snes and sega and psx RPG's.
Eh... I didn't really care for the CD-i reviews much... but that could be because the system and games LITERALLY bore me... so I couldn't get into the reviews. I actually prefer when he bashes games I like as it makes me look at them differently!
The Nerd just released a new Christmas video. Bible Games 2.

One of his best of 2008, I love when he reviews Bible Games.

Hilarious as always. I had no idea Sunday Funday had two other games on it. Gotta love the "Moses and Me" graffiti.
.
That was great. I think he nearly cried at the end of Sunday Funday.
And don't bring up that stupid girlie Aladdin rip off! Shantea?
