Default 3do disc tray not working.

I don't have the unit to look at but I have the chance to purchase a boxed console cheaply. It's from a local resale store, the tray ejects as soon as the power is turned on and if you push the tray in or press the eject button it goes in and pops back out. I don't have it to test yet but would it be something that is easy to repair and is it a good gamble or is it too dangerous of a purchase?

    Thanks in advance.

It's a FZ1 Panasonic. It's on Ebay now with few bids but I can save the 15-20 on shipping because he's local to me so I may get it cheaply. If it's a loose cable or some simple soldering I can do that. I just can't do real complex diagnostics.

I stopped servicing 3DO's for two reasons:

    1) incredibly low demand (less than 2 per year, and we service 70 systems per week)
    2) very difficult to service the FZ-1's, hard to get parts period for any version.

This does not mean that your FZ-1 isn't just a loose cable or something. Just bid knowing what I just said. Don't pay too much.

I had one that did this. Either the seller was lying about how well it worked, or it got bumped around in shipping. All I had to do was open it up and push on the tray assembly to pop it back into place.

That said, I may just buy it as I don't have one anymore (I've owned 4-5 and sold them) and want one again.
