    Default Quality Space Invaders ports?

From the Channel F to the PS3, which consoles/handhelds had some really decent SI action?

I enjoy Vic Avenger (an SI clone) for the Commodore Vic 20. It is actually a pretty hard version because the shots fired by the invaders come at you quite fast. I don't know how well anyone else liked that version but it is my next favorite console port after the 2600 iteration.

The best port is by far TI Invaders for TI99/4A then a second is Alien Invasion for Channel F. Those are two great ports.
If they made a movie out of your top five worst sins, what would it be rated?

Space Invaders Pocket for the PSP is awesome. It has Space Invaders, Space Invaders Part 2, Returns of the Invaders, Majestic Twelve - The Space Invaders Part IV (aka 'Super Space Invaders '91') and Space Invaders '95 - The Attack of Lunar Loonies (aka 'Akkanvader'). Import that if you can.

Space Invaders Revolution for the DS is a decent port as well. If you're used to the arcade strategy they threw in a little twist in that they changed the counting to get the 300 pt UFO's so you'll have to figure it out

And of course coming out is Space Invaders Extreme for the DS. It's not the original arcade game and doesn't have the same strategy of course, but everything I've heard about this is that it's competely amazing & fun.

Some things which might be hard to find at the moment include

Space Invaders Collection by Opcode games for the Colecovision. He literally translated SI pt 1 & Pt 2 to the Colecovision giving it an arcade PERFECT rendition of the game.. even down to the bugs.

Space Invaders 25th Anniversary Bundle for the PS2. Not too hard to find but what may be was the awesome pack-in controller that it came with so versions of the game. You put in your ps2 controller in it and it ended up looking like a miniature version of the japanese cocktail version

How would you rate the SNES port?

Good! It's a straight up port of Space Invaders 1 with the japanese moon background option (not the Midway moon background) as well as b&w and "cellophane" looks as well. The sounds are a little off to me but I guess that's nitpicking. But yeah it's a good port of the first game. Incidentally if you got the Super Gameboy version of SI, it has the SNES one built in as well.

I like the ones I mentioned above like the PSP version since it also has Part 2 and a bunch of others. Ditto for the Colecovision version.

The SNES port is pretty good. For some reason or another, it's not in my collection, but I'll probably get it someday.

Also, the port included in Taito Legends (PS2/Xbox) is excellent.

Can anyone give me an overview of the Saturn import? Not much information out there, maybe it's just not that memorable?

The TI Home Computer version is pretty good. Although I wouldn't consider myself an expert in Space Invaders collecting. I only have TI Invaders, the Atari 2600 port, and the Nuon version.

Space Destroyers for the APF MP1000 is a nice Space Invaders clone. Good luck finding it, though.

Another vote for Space Invaders Collection on the ColecoVision. Perfect game, and hard to stop.

I love using that mini-cocktail adaptor! I gave one of these away at OVGE a few years back, and everyone seemed to enjoy it. Time to pull mine out of storage, and blast those invaders back to space!
