Is Makai Kingdom PS2 "rare" or hard to find?

I was lucky enough to find a new copy of Makai Kingdom for PS2 recently for low low price of $11.99.


I have noticed that prices are all over the place for this game on the net.

Yea I know that no PS2 games are actually rare but is this one a more difficult game to find or what?



I ask this question here at DP as I know I will get honest answers from the many video game collectors here.

It has pretty high-ish demand, I would imagine. It's a Nippon Ichi game so there's a fanbase, and it's probably about my favorite out of them (at least before Disgaea 2 came out). Of course it doesn't have Disgaea in it's name so it's not as high as it could be, but it's certainly more in-demand than Phantom Brave I'm sure. Hell, this game even mocks Phantom Brave's popularity.

I would say the demand is very low. Every gamestop in my area has multiple copies brand new for $19.99.

Uncommon based on regional location, hence the flucuating prices.

Gamestop has no new ones here but used ones for 17.99. I would keep it sealed and go buy a used copy.

All of the Nippon Ichi SRPG's are dirt common. Even Walmart picked these up for awhile. They're some of the first (non-greatest hits) RPG's to ever hang around long enough to receive a price drop.

NIS America, unlike Atlus, overproduces a lot of their titles. None of the games they've published in North America are difficult to come by.

and I did look very quickly for a similair thread but didnt find one.

I decided to open up the game and play it since I really like Tactical RPGS and Ill be honest here I havent played through one since FF Tactics on PSone.

So far its a very fun game and the gameplay is far beyond compared to what the older TRPGS had to offer.

Although im glad I kept my old Standard Def TV to play games like this on cause the graphics are near ancient by todays standards but that really doesnt bother me.

Yeah, I see it all the time here. In fact, I'd have taken the plunge and bought it already if I weren't so sure I'd have no problem finding it later on.

And Ar Tonelico pisses me off three fold.
1) I get embarrassed when I play the game.
2) I get embarrassed when I tell people I like the game.
3) The sequel doesn't look like it's coming to the U.S.

I've never had a problem finding Makai around here. Also, I heard it was rather mediocre. But then again, look at games like FF7... Makai could be worth a coin or two down the road. *shrugs*

This game definitely is not rare. I have seen new copies for $20 at pretty much every Gamestop I have been to in the recent past.
