Target/Sears/Best Buy/Toys R Us/Kmart Discount and Clearance Video Game Sales

Clearance bins have been totally bought up around here.

For the most part, the majority of clearance games around here have been bought or moved/scattered thru out the store from fickle customers. Target did have a couple copies of Mirror's Edge(PS3) for $9.98. However, I bought 3 copies of the 360 version of that game for that price almost 6 months ago.

The best deals I've noticed lately on new games was Gamestop over the weekend. Even I'm still surprised by the deals. When you combined their cheap prices(after Xmas sale) with the $20 credit you get for trading in select games from a list of over a 100 titles, you could have gotten some really good deals. I got:

Grand Theft Auto: Episodes From Liberty City(360) $10

All of those were new and(with the exception of Tekken 6) factory sealed.

I've been waiting to pick up the Conduit for the Wii so I'm glad I held off until now. It was the only copy left, as was MK Vs DC. Atleast Target is starting to get some deals back in. Toys R Us also had some clearance games but they were 99.9% shovelware.

We're seeing a lot lot LOT of PS2 and DS games hitting the Target clearance racks here. Most seem to be stuff I'm not interested in, but I did finally cave and pick up:

Don't know if it's any good yet, but I'll try it soon and for that price, it was a steal.

Stopped by Target today. Was hoping for some of the deals people have spotted, but saw none of them. Still, there were some stuff others may have liked.

Advance Wars: Days Of Ruin for about $14 (I think) and Lego Batman for PS3 for the same price were the only ones I memorized. They also had quite a few other games, but nothing I was really looking for and could remember that hasn't been mentioned.

Two quickies for today:

Target

Modern Warfare 2: Hardened Edition(360) $55.98
Mortal Kombat Kollection(PS2) $13.98

Although thats not super low for the MW2 hardened edition, give it a few weeks or up to two months. Last year I got the limited edition of Halo Wars for $19.99 on clearance at Target when the regular version was still selling for $59.99(three months after they released).

Target is always the first to start clearancing limited/special editions so keep your eyes peeled for these deals. And one final piece of advice: ignore what price is on the game. Always double check it at the price scanners littered thru out the store. When I got that Halo Wars special edition it was in the clearance section marked down to $59.99 from it's original $79.99. But I scanned it and $19.99 popped up. Just keep that in mind and the same thing goes for Sears and FYE--they don't always pay attention to store price drops.

There are a TON of DS games, lots of PS2 games, some Wii games, 1 or 2 PS3 games and a couple of PSP games at my Target. Nothing on "great" clearance except:

Most everything else was still in the $15 - $20 range or more.

I'm going to wait until Demon's Soul gets below $20 before I pick it up. And if MAU2 had been either the 360 or PS3 version I definitely would have picked them up for that price.

Scored at Target last night, Wii Sports Resort bundle with the two Wii Motion plus attachments for $41.98. Not a crazy low price, but surprised to see it discounted at all this soon. Game was the only copy hidden among 100+ copies of some Shawn White snowboarding game, Smarter than a 5th Grader, and Singstar warez.

My local game scalper has shown up again. Last week at my local Targets there were probably 50 of these combo games, then on Monday - GONE. All of them. Not one left....

Usually the rule is go don't call, but if your only reason for going to Target is to check on the drops (and it is a decent trip), you're probably safer to call.

Just be sure to ask if they have the games in stock and their prices. That is probably better than asking if a game is on clearance.
