Post Lost Infocom Games Discovered [Slashdot]

I Don't Believe in Imaginary Property writes "Archivists at Waxy.org have gotten a copy of the backup of Infocom's shared network drive from 1989 and are piecing together information about games that were never released. In particular, there is the sequel to The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy called Milliways: The Restaurant at the End of the Universe, and there are two playable prototypes of it. And yes, they have playable downloads available."

    holy moly

Also, somebody in the comments wrote an interesting bit about Cornerstone, Infocom's failed venture into database business computing. Fascinating.

Honestly, this is one of the best articles I've found on the Net in terms of gaming and gaming history. Not just the article itself, though... read through the comments. Designers and people mentioned in the article show up and speak for themselves about how everything went down, and it's just great reading.

These are the sort of people I'd love to hear from at a forum like CGE. Just a panel of Infocom creatives, all in one room, talking about unreleased products and development of some of the greatest of interactive fiction. Would be awesome.

    Default Lost Infocom games discovered

Don't know if this was posted already, but if it's true, it's a good find:

Watch. Probably five minutes after I post this, it will be exposed as a hoax (or I'll have posted this in the wrong forum).

Pulled the ServBot thread out of Modern gaming where it gets dumped and merged The Hoff's thread with it for sanity's sake.

    Continue on with the babble!
