Default Virtual Boy Headband - n00b Friendly

Let me begin by saying this. I absolutely love the Virtual Boy. It has long been one of my favorite systems, both for its novelty and ease of collecting (a total of 14 U.S. games are available). Of course, even the most die hard VB fans will tell you the design sucks. The stand is uncomfortable for just about everywhere on your body. So, the logical solution is a headband. Or a shoulder stand, if you want to see Nintendo's idea. This is far from the first headband to be made for the system, but it's the easiest I've been able to think of.

Most headbands work fantastically, my design is simply to be able to be constructed without opening the system or a risk damaging it in any way. All that's required are two Guitar Hero straps (or similar) and some velcro. Also, it doesn't hurt to put some padding in the middle of the eyeshade (foam would probably be best). My nose is currently red and indented as I haven't gotten around to it yet. I've been testing it for about an hour now, and everything is working great. I'll upload some pics if there's any interest.*

And also, if my English is kind of off in the post, I apologize. It's 3 A.M. and this design is currently fueled by Sun Drop. So, my brain is freaking out.

    *EDIT - Here they are.

I never got the chance to buy one, but I heard it was real bad for your eyes.

Was there a megaman or something similar for virtual boy? I remember seeing the box (I don't know if it was empty) for it once.

Megaman? No. I can't think of anything that similar. The closest I could fathom (from box art only) would be Tobidase! Panibon, AKA Panic Bomber.

And the whole bad for your eyes bit is a rumor. I've played for hours on end, with no ill effect. Minus a cramped neck, hence the headstrap.

How did you connect the head strap? I've often wanted to figure out a different method of playing it but I don't want to damage the original design. Got pics?

I used velcro to secure them. I've had a spare for a while and thought it was worth a shot. At worst, I'd have an extra VB that was sticky,

As far as pics, I'll put some up later. It's kind of similar aesthetically to this one.

Only major difference is that my straps are black.

The best way to play VB, imo is in a dark room, laying on a bed or couch and then just resting the VB with stand on your chest so gravity holds it to your face.

Seconded. And it helps to have a fat pillow under your head so you're not leaning too far back.

Think of it as the "anti-Wii"; Whereas the motion capabilities of the Wii encourage you to get off the couch, VB is best when you're laying motionless in the dark with headphones on like some sort of coma patient in long-term recovery. I love my Virtual Boy.

I owned a Virtual Boy in the late 1990s and played it quite a bit. My eyes are fine. The worst that could happen is some people might experience eye strain from the 3D effect.

Sometimes I think the "Virtual Boy makes you go blind" rumors were started by Nintendo just so the console would fail and Nintendo wouldn't have to support it anymore.

The closest game I can think of is Wario Land. It's a good side-scrolling action game and makes great use of 3D.

No. I haven't even heard of one that was planned for the VB. We would have ended up with some pretty cool games if it had made it a little longer. Donkey Kong Country, Mario Land, Worms, Goldeneye (more similar to Spy Hunter than the N64 game.), Bomberman, F-Zero, 007...

Sorry for the confusion. Just thought I'd state the purpose of the project as clearly as possible. Anyways, here are some pics I finally took.

EDIT - Decided it would be better to just edit my original post to show the pics.

Oh, and yes, it's still in prototype form. :P

Ah. Sorry for misconstruing you on that.

Well, I'm keeping that comment there as I like to think that you think I'm attractive. It makes me feel special.
