    Happy birthday man.

No real finds here, though I have taken advantage of ebay's recent coupon spree. I'll end up getting Call of Duty 4, Lost Odyssey, Luminous Arc, Etrian Odyssey, Dragon Quest Monsters, Dragon Quest Rocket Slime, Castlevania Portrait of Ruin, and Final Fantasy XII Revenant Wings for free. I've still got two coupons for $10 off shipping to use, but can't find anything to buy!

I used the weekly email coupon from Gamestop along with my Edge and picked up the following complete GameCube games today:

Batman: Dark Tomorrow (missing the limited edition comic ) - $4.19
    Luigi's Mansion - $5.99
    Pac-Man Vs./Pac-Man World 2 (Player's Choice) - $7.79
    Ultimate Spider-Man - $7.79
    Wario World - $5.99

Then, I went to an out-of-the-way Gamecrazy and found a complete copy of Capcom vs. SNK 2 for the PlayStation 2 for $9.99. I've never seen this game in the wild except for the $30 copies at Gamestop that always seem to be missing the instructions. Finally, my Japanese copy can get a rest.

The associate literally begged me to let him buff the disc and I had to continue to explain to him that I didn't want it buffed. It has a few scratches, but I didn't want him to ruin it further. On the plus side, he was so ticked off that he forgot to ask me to buy the membership card, so I didn't have to tell him "no."

Only picked up a couple of games today,
    Genesis:
    Grind Stormer (Loose - $2)
    Playstation:
    King's Field II (Complete - $1)
Air Combat (Complete longbox - $4)

    Also bought some anime:
    Escaflowne the Movie (DVD)
Mazinkaiser Vol.1 - Turbo Smashing Sensation! (DVD)
Mazinkaiser Vol.2 - A Fire Blast from the Past! (DVD)
Ruin Explorers - Tales in the Crypt! (VHS)

The DVDs were $3 each, and $0.75 for the VHS.

Picked up A Practical Guide to the UNIX System 3rd Edition for $1.50 and looks like a good read that covers BSD and SunOS.

Finally, lots of CDs and records along with a JVC stereo and a speaker to be used as a piece in building an arcade.

My "finds", amidst a disheartening day:
Robo Aleste (CIB, slight crack on front) for $10
    Yoshi's Story (loose, $4)

Despite the rain, I trudged to the flea market to buy myself something after an intensive summer course (Aside: Econometrics is not fun when you suck at Stats). The first table I stopped at had left everything out in the rain; despite The Wettening, I figured I would ask how much he wanted for the now severely water damaged Dark City DVD (goes for ~$5 new at BB) and the complete Shadow Dancer for the Genesis. After a brief pause, he replied, "$10 for each." I politely exited with a "No, thank you," attempting not to recoil in horror.

The pickings were very slim, so I resigned myself to going to the game vendors in the building. Quite honestly, the standard business model seems to be taking in games for dirt cheap, stacking them in filthy conditions to the point where all the boxes get crushed, and then pricing them at equal to or above eBay values.

These people don't seem to understand that eBay prices are bound to be higher; there is a global marketplace willing to pay a higher price to avoid going to dirty flea market vendors and garage sales. When these guys are trying to sell a loose Spiderman: Web of Fire with a screwed up label for $100, it just won't work. The only person who would purchase the game would be a collector, who would almost certainly know that they could get the same game (in better condition) online for the same price (likely cheaper) without having to waste the time and gas to go to a flea market. The same valuable games have been sitting there for over a year and a half, and likely will be there for the indefinite future.
    /end rant

As much as I'd like to say yes, it's not entirely right. I've run into "collectors" at conventions that are out of their minds, literally. They brag about finding a loose Master System for $70 at a flea market and how they are about to spend $100+ on an ultra rare copy of Phantasy Star and discuss how awesome it was on emulation. There aren't that many buyers out there, but there are.

    Default Flea Market 6-29-08

    Capcom's Gold Medal Challenge '92
    Ice Hockey Complete
    Legend of Zelda, The
    Little League Baseball
    Mike Tyson's Punch-Out
    River City Ransom
Super Mario Bros 3 with Manual

    $7

NES games IAP of $2 each down to $1 each. I almost turned around this morning and didn't go to the flea market since it was raining a little bit off and on. When I got to the flea market it had a decent number of sellers toughing it out in the rain. First time I've seen River City Ransom in the wild around here.

The wrestling books were a dollar each. I actually have both of them in paperback but figured I'd get Have A Nice day in hardcover and ended up grabbing Chyna's book also since the seller was only asking a dollar each.

Well it's been a great month for me and I rounded it out rather nicely:
I got everything in the first two pictures for $20 except for Morrowind, that was 5.

It took almost a year to get it but I got this for free from yourfree360games.com

Yay for tingling Spider-sense. Today I picked up Wii Play at Goodwill for $25. Looks like a CIB Target return...got the disc (sealed), the remote, the Wii jacket, and the batteries. Any Wii Play owners out there tell me if I'm missing anything?
