Yes I did, during a Neo Geo emulation binge. The only difficult part that stands out in my memory was the castle hall maze. Needlessly redundant.. so far as I recall the ending, the last boss was this strangely shaped alien buddha thing with rings of spinning bubbles, and you got to choose what form you were prior to battle. Ending was of some old guy babbling at the pointy hat protagonist about restoring peace or some other nonsense.
I beat the game back in the day with a little old school cheating See, I had the home cart and system, and a memory card. In the home version you can only continue at the beginning of a level, which absolutely sucked. In the arcade, you can continue exactly where you stood providing you inserted a quarter. What I did was I got as far as I could at home and saved it to the memory card. Then I went to the local arcade which had a 4-slot arcade Neo machine, popped my memory card in it (there was a slot underneath the coing insert for your card, just make sure nobody put gum in there!!) and I would continue my game past where I couldn't get past at home with the help of a pocket full of quarters. Then I'd bring the saved game card home and continue my game AFTER the part I couldn't get past originally Good stuff...
DId it in an Emulator with a save state...otherwise, I couldn't do it...game is a PITA!
