Default Random Game O' the Day: Fantasy Zone II

The Random Game Generator has been pretty tough on us this week so far. While the original Fantasy Zone is no stranger to gamers, the sequel ranks among one of the lesser-discussed sequels in history. Unless you're a Sega Master System fan.

More warps meant more levels, but the graphics were very similar to the first game. So have you played this sequel? Was it a worthwhile purchase? Would you have released it as a sequel as is or would you have added more to the original game engine? Or perhaps you think this is the "perfect" version of Fantasy Zone? Write your mini-review here.

    DP Guide sez:

Fantasy Zone II (Sega Master System, by Sega) $10/R3
Based on the 1987 Sega coin-op. Sequel? This one should have been called Fantasy Zone+ or something similar, since the gameplay and graphics are practically identical to the first game. A "two mega" game. #5108.

You're blind Joe, the Graphics are WAY better than the original.

I love this game! It's got more levels, more exiting bosses, and it's slightly better overall than the original Fantasy Zone. The only thing the original had over this one is more memorable music.

The one thing I don't like about the Fantasy Zone series is that the last boss is IMPOSSIBLE unless you use the right weapon (FZ1: drop heavy bombs on the last 2 spiders. FZ2: use the fireball weapon on the spinning totem thing)
