    Default PC Game Identification.

I remember a game that I played in the early to mid 90's. I believe it was a PC DOS based game and it didn't take but a couple of floppy disks. It was kind of like Risk but I remember the map being gray. I know it doesn't help much but if anybody knows what this game is, please post.

First thing that comes to mind is Empire by Interstel.

But that was late 80s (although I never played it until the early 90s) and came on a single floppy (3.5".)

If you looked at the world map, then unexplored areas were grey.

    Man, I loved that game.

And something about the 44th infantry unit. Every time I reached that one, I'd send it out on a suicide mission and it would carve a swath of unstoppable destruction. The Fightin' Forty-fourth!

    Empire

Hmm...that wasn't it. The game had a map like Risk.Although, Empire is a war game that I haven't tried (but seen before). I think I will give it some play time

It could always be WinRisk, though it may also be one of the World Empire games. Hmm, there's one strategy game that I'm trying to remember the name of that it could possibly be as well, but nothing is jumping out on MobyGames' little list. I'll have to keep googling until I find that magic screenshot that'll spark my memory.

Rise of the West has a Risk-like map (much of which is gray at the start of the game), and was released in 1994.
