Default Newer PSP... broken joystick... replacement?

Just bought a second hand PSP (Star Wars one) which appeared to be mint... till I tried to surf the net. The joystick doesn't work!

When I move it all the way left I can see under it and it looks like something has cracked and broken.

Can this be repaired? I'd hate to junk a perfectly working PSP for this problem!

I'm going from memory based on the last time I opened my PSP here. The analog stick is mostly part of the front face plate, and some conductive pads connect it to the main board via pressure. You might want to open it up and look around - if it's the stick assembly, find another dead PSP and steal its faceplate. If there are cracks in the motherboard where the stick connects, though, you'll have to do some pretty fancy soldering to get it in working order. And have a can of compressed air handy, or you will have 98% of the dust in your house resting on your PSP's screen within 20 seconds of opening the case.

Dealextreme also has replacement analog sticks. A little slow, but great prices to me. Probably about 5 bucks from there if it is the analog assembly.
