At first, I couldn't tell if this was a "ZELDA SUX" thread or a "GAMECUBE SUX" thread, but after reading your first post twice, I know now that it's a little bit of both.

While I will agree with you that the GCN Zeldas are overrated, I disagree about the GameCube being a total failure of a system. Now that many of the used third-party games have hit rock-bottom at Gamestop, I would go as far as saying that it's a pretty good system to play. It isn't the oasis that the PlayStation 2 is, but it really isn't that bad if you have an open-mind.

But yes, I just can't get into Zelda on the Cube. Hell, I stopped playing Phantom Hourglass on the DS recently and don't know when I'll end up touching it again.
Currently catching up on PSN, WiiWare, Wii U E-Shop and Xbox Live Arcade exclusives I missed.

I probably wouldn't be that sad to get rid of my own Zelda games.

I haven't played TP yet though; WW's still the most current one I've played.

Well, I never liked Wind Waker, though I did like Twilight Princess. Seems like you're being a little rough on the system. It's got a good selection. I just looked back at my selection, and here are some good titles:

    Mario Sunshine (completely underrated)
    Luigi's Mansion
    007 Nightfire
    Animal Crossing
    Metroid Prime
    Paper Mario TTYD
    Smash Bros
    Tales of Symphonia
    Resident Evil 4
Donkey Kong Jungle Beat (pretty good game actually)
Lego Star Wars (really fun co-op, it's simply play is great)
    Soul Calibur II
    Wario Ware
X-men Legends 1 and 2 (I was an X-men fan back in the day)

I don't even need to look over my shoulder to name some must-own GC titles

    Luigi's Mansion
Paper Mario (Super Paper Mario would have been here too 'cept it eventually hit Wii)
    P.N. 03
    Ikaruga
    Viewtiful Joe
    Metroid Prime
    Geist
    Smash Bros Melee
    Zelda Four Swords Adventure
    Resident Evil 4
    Tales of Symphonia
    Phantasy Star Online 1&2
    Star Fox Adventures
Star Fox Assault (the air missions are tops, the ground missions are balls)
    Eternal Darkness
    TimeSplitters 3
    Wave Race

Just to name a few. 8*)

    So...we have...

    1. "I hate Zelda" thread...
    2. "I hate GameStop" thread...
    3. "I hate Game Cube" thread...
    4. "I hate Ikaruga" thread...
    5. "I hate Game Cube ports" thread...
    6. "I hate not having (insert game name here)" thread...
    7. "I hate being a thrifty spender" thread...
    8. "I hate the lack of sales on GH3" thread...
    9. "I adore cliche nicknames for retail stores" thread...

All wrapped up into one nice little gift basket of a post.

Perhaps I can offer you a small rainbow tied around a tastefully decorated ice cream sundae of your favorite flavor, with extra whip cream and cherries on top.

Just wanted to bring a little bit of (Mario) sunshine to this droopy post.

Are you kidding me? What about Resident Evil 4? Perhaps the best game for the system? Nintendo Gamecube is my Resident Evil mekka, it has the REmake and Zero exclusive, and all the other good Resident Evil games available.

I won't make this into a list making contest, listing all the cool games I have for it, but come on, it's not a failure of a system. Have you met Atari XE and Virtual Boy? There we have failures...

The Gamecube was perhaps not my favourite console when it was current-gen, but now, at low-low prices I love it!

If I wanted to play Combat, I'd play Combat. The controls worked there. They don't work in Resident Evil. And I never cared to play RE4 because I never cared to play the previous games.

GameBalls is running a trade-in promotion right now, so it's like getting what you'd get on ebay minus a convenience fee for not having to deal with ebay.

I'm completely incensed at your edgy, oh-so-controversial statements regarding popular video game series, and my attention, while negative, is now completely directed toward you, which is better than no attention at all. Unfortunately my attention is fleeting, so you will soon have to think of other ways of acting out to recapture it. In the meantime however, simply bask in the pure joy of having others react to things that you've said.

I guess I'm the opposite. I loved OoT and MM on the N64, enjoyed WW except for the sailing, and trudged through as much of TP as I could before I got bored. I ended up at the sky dungeon or something if I recall. It's not that it's a bad game by any means, it's just to me it felt like I was playing a shinier version of OoT. At least MM and WW played a lot differently IMO.

The 2D games on the other hand, I have a hell of a time getting into, which is why I was quite surprised Minish Cap grabbed me the way it did. I had that beat in a few days. The rest of the 2D games though... no dice. I have tried several times to get into all of them but never hold my attention for more than an hour or two. The only one I haven't tried at all yet is PH on the DS.

It's too bad several of the people in this thread couldn't get into the various 3-D Zelda's. I think they're some of the best games ever made...or at least I thought so when they were first released. I entered the Gamecube/PS2/Xbox generation by buying a Gamecube just to play Wind Waker. I've bought every Zelda release on day 1. I love those games.

However, as the years go by, I can sympathize with the ho-hum reaction that comes with each new release. I forced myself to finish Phantom Hourglass (it took 3 months) and never finished Twilight Princess (I even have both versions). They simply bored me to death. With TP, I had no motivation to keep going...and I finish almost EVERY game I buy. They're great games...I guess. I think it has more to do with me than the actual game. My gaming tastes have moved on.

Maybe the three months was the problem. I played the game from start to finish is about 10 days and it was some of the best gaming I have had in a long time.

I have never tried Wind Waker, but if it is anything like Phantom Hourglass, I would love it. I own Twilight Princess, but Mario Kart uses up all my Wii time and I am having too much fun with the DS.

A Link to the Past was the catalyst that triggered my urgent need for the SNES. Before that I was laughing at the purple and grey case while I played Strider on the real next-gen system, the Genesis. I became a Nintendo convert, but that feeling ran out after Ocarina of Time was released. Man, what a boring game. I played the hell out of it, but was still bored to death. I finally gave up after getting to (what appeared to be) the second to last temple.

Yeah, it's hard for me to go back and play the old "steer your character like a tank" REs after playing RE4. But you really should play RE4, it made me love gaming again.

No. I would have considered it, but GameNads doesn't carry dolls. Instead, I got Guitar Hero 3 360 and a 360 Marketplace points card with which I got the Rock Band Boston track pack and still have 800 points left over. Not enough to get the Judas Priest album, unfortunately

And you know what? I'm okay with this. Goodbye crappy Zelda games. Forever!

How can you possibly put the Atari XE in the same boat as Virtual Boy? Are you crazy? I mean sure the XE line was the twilight of the Atari 8-bit family, but they still lasted several years after their introduction. It never sold as much as Commodore 64, but it still did pretty damn well, better than other 8-bit computers in 1985-1991.

Hmm, I traded in a bunch of DS games I wasn't playing last week. Maybe I should have started a thread too.

About the OP: non-sensical provocative idiocy. Stop doing justice to yourself, start doing justice to a game system.
