Default Sega Genesis - Thunder Force II

I've just acquired Thunder Force II for the Genesis. I'm playing the first level (top down shooter style) and I have no idea what to do. Can someone help?

I've checked GameFAQs before asking here.

Blow up those big ground bases. Then there is a place on the side of those floating lines that you can shoot and it will open up the next section. Repeat until you get to the end.

Any idea how many big bases there are?

A problem I'm having is that by the time I'm close to one of those walls it's too late to change course. It doesn't help I'm playing this on Nomad

every overhead stage has 4 bosses to beat.

also the game has a stage select if you are stil stuck (hold a on the title screen)

altrnnatively the pull out trick works wonderuflly on it (dunno if it works on the nomad though does it have a reset button?)

I direct the plane in circles while trying to shoot the spot that brings down the barrier. I found this, for me, works the best.

Yeah actually that's the one I watched. I love Classic Gaming Room stuff.

I actually watched a review of Lightening Force (sic) first than worked my way back to TF2 and saw Thunder Force II at a flea market. I'd prefer Thunder Force III or Lightening Force, I think. I finally beat stage 1 of TF2, stage 2 was pretty fun, Stage 3 was another overhead shooter so I shut it off. I don't mind vertical shooters, I just don't like these free roaming type.

Once you get the hang of it it is not that bad. I remember when that game came out it got great reviews like 9.0+ All of them are awesome to me.

Anyone remember back when sega was a player in the game when they gave this game and an extra controller free for buying a genesis. I tell you that was the good days when you were treated right.

There's three on the Genesis, the first came out on several Japanese home computers. The second also came out on the X68000. There's also an arcade "version" of TF3 and a SNES version of that arcade version. TF5 came out on the PS and Saturn.
