Ok, now what?

Since I waited too late, the guy who I was going to buy that Famicom has put it in storage.

Anyway, no real loss, I just want to figure out what I should get to replace it and eventually put a Disk System on it.

I was thinking of these:
Original Famicom+Disk System
AV Famicom+Disk System
Sharp Twin Famicom (Red and black is cheaper than Red for some reason)
Generation NEX+Disk System

I really would prefer the AV and Disk System, but the AV Famicom like going for $80 including shipping at the moment, with the Disk System costing $70 shipped.

What do you say?

I think their are at least a couple pros and cons to choosing one of these systems.

If you plan on getting a original/AV Famicom with FDS you will be able to cough*play pirated disk system games*cough. Of course you will also need room for 2 AC adapters (one for the Famicom and one for the FDS) or 6 C-Cell batteries. Plus the Famicom tends to slide off the Disk System at times. It is much cheaper than say a Twin Famicom, which although eliminates tracking down two separate systems, will probably cost you more than a Famicom + FDS combined. Personally I would go with the Famicom + FDS setup but it's your choice.

Strange you say the Red/Black is cheapest; I find the opposite usually to be the case.

Sad about missing out on that Craig's List find, that was one hell of a nice deal.

He ended up re-listing it and I kept emailing the old email address instead of the new one. By the time I found the new one and he responded, he had to put it in storage because he was moving. D:

Still, I like the look of the AV Famicom and Disk System better, and I can actually detach the controllers.

Good move best setup you can get for saving space

Sharp twin famicom is nice for being all one but it's bulky beside,it's controlls being wired in

Though...both can suffer from the belt drive going bad i hope you don't mind replaceing it when it does.

When I was vacationing in Tokyo last year I found the red Twin Fami cheaper then the black. Which was fine by me since I wanted a red one.

One thing to keep in mind is the shortness of the controller cables. If you need longer controllers or want to plug in American NES ones, then the AV Fami is for you. I picked up a wireless controller for my Twin Famicom though so no worries there.
