    Smile My Retro Gaming Room

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lsAzIJhcIzs

I pretty much came up with the idea one day and told my GF and roomate about it, not really intending to do it. Well, the very next day we were shopping for some turd brown paint, after that was done we hit up habitat for humanity and good-will and scored an epic 80s couch. We had to take out a window just to get it inside its about 10 feet long. I had some games and stuff and an old wood panel TV, but once the room was done I went crazy and started buying NES, SNES, N64 Genesis games and stuff. Then after that I went a little more crazy and bought the security tools and cleaning kits and took them all apart and shined them up. Noting like having stuff work on the 1st try! Now im hunting manuals for all the games. Pretty much all of it is ebay stuff. Bought over 200 games there, not a dud yet.

The video is about 8 months old theres alot more now. Currently i have the following.

NES, SNES, N64, Gamecube, Sega Master, Sega Genesis, Sega CD, Sega 32x, Sega Saturn, Sega Dreamcast.

Next im going into Neo Geo/Atari but im running out of room for wires!

I managed to collect the first 140 issues of Nintendo Power wit all the inserts intact.

There is much more to be done!

Sometimes I read in the news about these "Man caves"... Well, I guess this is mine!

My GF still kicks my butt at Mortal Kombat

That's how I wish I can put my collection. Not stuff it in a basement to gather dust like many I know do.

    Showcase it!

Nice vid, but I have to ask...what's the song playing in the background?

I love the lighted display case, but man, if I fixated on anything, it wasn't the games at all - it was the Ectomobile and Doc Brown's DeLorean! Where in the world did those come from? I'm green with envy.

Between those and the movie posters, this game room gets an A+++ from me - it's not just about the games, but about all the cool stuff that hailed from that era, preserving a time and a place and a mindset. Good work!

I got the Ecto-1 and the Delorean of similar size/style as a model kit from Hobby Lobby a few years ago. If those are the same kits, I didn't do nearly as good of job at putting mine together. Nice setup all the way around.

I'm also sick of my stuff in the basement, I don't have the space to set it all up. I'm slowly bringing stuff up though, right now I just have my PS2, GC, PS1, N64 and Dreamcast games in my room.

wish I could showcase it like this video

The Models are actually made of metal. they are 1/??? reproduction scale diecasts that i got off of ebay. The DeLorean was about 75 and the Ecto-1 was about 100. hehe they are neat because you can open the hood ( or trunk ) and they have little motors in them with rubber spark plug wires and stuff hehe.

Anyone see ALF on the chair there?

I love the reaction people have when they walk into the room, its kind of a look of confusion, followed by absolute excitement lol.

What nobody really notices because it is behind glass is the VCR

Now this is a real find. This is the first VCR that was sold in America, literally te first model vcr sold

RCA VBT200 hehe google it its a pretty cool story.

I was browsing ebay one day looking for an old vcr to play the wizard on and i stumbled across this and bid on it. the ad said "minty"

to my suprise, it showed up still in the original box, with all of the accessories and manuals untouched, and the original reciept ($1500.00 ) lol

    best find ever!!!!

I used to work security at the old Texas Instruments site in Mass. When they were clearing out the buildings I would patrol around the nearly empty factory/offices. TI was there for over 50 years, and a lot of the old technology was still hanging around. I walked into an old conferance room and there was this monstrosity of a VCR sitting there. It was much bigger than the one in your picture, and looked like older tech. It may have been an import, or one specifically built for the company. My guess is it wasnt a consumer model, but an industrial one for big businesses. I'd say it precedes the one you have! It didnt have a digital display like yours. It had these big sliders for tracking and speed. Also some big vents on the side 'cause I'm sure that sucker got HOT! I wanted to ask someone if I could have it if they were going to throw it away. I never got the chance and it got trashed. SHAME!

Edit: The one I'm talking about looked a lot like this one, but this isnt quite it.
