Default Have you crashed in Beggar's Canyon? (or, classic levels where you die lots)

I just thought of this because I was looking up Star Wars Rebel Assault for 3DO in the guide, and it has a pic of Beggar's Canyon. I'm sure my death total in Beggar's Canyon is somewhere around 42 million. For some reason this just stands out for me as a level where I've died a lot. It is probably because it has appeared in sooooo many games. Can anyone think of a level that has occurred in more different games? Maybe the 'death star approach'. Or maybe I'm just imagining it and it was really just that there were a lot of ports of Rebel Assault, and not actually that many different games with this level.

I actually got pretty good at it in the Gamecube release. My first experience with it was on a friend's 386 or 486 PC. I consistently lasted approximately 5 seconds every time before slamming into a wall.

Any other classic gaming levels where you just seem to die... a LOT? My next up would have to be those first two jumps after the Medusa Heads first appear in Castlevania.

(apologies if this topic has been done before... I didn't find a similar one, though)

    No.

But I used to target Womp Rats in my T-16, back home.

    (someone had to say it...)

Then why the hell didn't you sell it to raise money instead of whining how crappy the value of your speeder was?!

This "force" thing came on so suddenly....

I just needed a quick ride to Alderan. I had hoped to avoid any Imperial entanglements.

Pretty much any game needing perfectly excuted jumps over bottomless pits.

What's the deal with those pits? They can't possibly be bottomless.

Battletoads (NES) - Speeder Bike level

I've never, ever, beaten that stage. The amphibian remains of thousands of toads are a testament.

Even though I can easily finish Dragon's Lair on a single credit (if the machine isn't set to the "give us more money!! mode" at the castle half-way point) I admit to being guilty of falling off more than a few "swining/burning" ropes and/or getting stuck in a few "closing walls" for the sake of the princess.

It was worth it for those nipples.

That underwater level in the original Ninja Turtles for NES where you get electrocuted if you hit the sides. I only completed that a handful of times, and that was after using multiple turtles.

Strangely enough, the underwater level in Earthworm Jim also gave me fits when I was younger. I ended up having to use my turbo controller to put it into slow-mo to beat it. When I played it a year ago, though, I was able to beat it on the first try (TMNT still kills me though).

Sadly enough, I have issues with certain parts of both the God of War & the first Devil May Cry game. Something about those button memorization/punching sequences that I have trouble getting down. Eventually I got past them but not without much screaming/cussing/retrying.

You have no idea how thankful I was when they released TMNT II: The Arcade Game. I was a TMNT nut, and that first game belongs in Hell. My biggest problem was when you have to drive around in the van. I don't think the Game Genie even helped.

Most failures for me are games like Project Gotham (trying to beat the times to get Gold medals), Star Wars X-Wing (there was a protect the shuttle mission that was ridiculous), Mike Tyson's Punch-Out (I must have lost to Great Tiger 1,000 times before I learned how to block), and perhaps the most frustrating game I've ever played...Days of Thunder on the NES. I remember I just could not win the championship, I'd always lose by 5 or 10 points. Being a NASCAR freak, I just had to beat it.

The final level of the original "Driver" for the PS1...played it hundreds of times, and the President and I have survived exactly 3 times over these many years.
