Default PIRATE NES Systems - How well do they work?

My toploader just took a dump on me, and instead of paying $80 for one now, im looking at purchasing one of the pirate systems as a temporary fix.

How has your experience been with them? Do they work with all of the games?

    Thanks!

a couple of topics down check out the RETRO DUO. That is the one I recommend. In fact, you probably wont go back to your toploader.

Get a Retro Duo, they are pretty good, the only bad thing about it is that it can't run the Famicom Disk Drive.

    Read our official thread there.

Retro Duo is the nicest clone for sure, just be aware that ALL NES clones have compatibility issues, some big, some small.

There is not yet a "perfect" replacement for a real NES.

Yeah I was kinda wanting to get away from paying $50+ for one, but that Retro Duo doesnt look to bad.

Anyone know how good the Yobos are? Alot of imcompat issues?

I hope that was with shipping!

Yobos are wonderful little tissue box shaped systems with AWESOME controllers and NES-compatible control ports ... but you can find them for about $15 if you look hard enough.

I like Yobo too. I traded in a mess of PS2 games for it last summer, hasnt had a bit of trouble! It even got yanked off the table, fell 3 ft & still works great. The games I have (12) work fine, & the Zapper works too. I think I read one of the Castlevanias (3?) & Rad Racer 2 have probs.

I recall playing one of those pirate NES systems at a kiosk at the nearby Mall of America, just before the guy behind it got busted.

i also have a yobo. It works fine, but the music in some games sound funny, and sometimes i have to unplug my controller because it will just stop working. When plug it back in it works fine. Just a few minor flaws, but if u need a nes it works.

A Yobo will get you through such hard times, yep, but you'll have issues with a couple of your games. For example, Dragon Warrior 2 doesn't work at all.

As a "temporary fix", it's perfect; as a permanent solution, it sucks. Buy real NES as soon as you can... it's worth the extra effort.
