    Default NES Puzzle Games

I am looking to put together a definitive list of puzzle games for the NES. So far I have used the sites http://www.gamefaqs.com/console/nes/list_puzzle.html and http://www.nesguide.com/genre/puzzle/ to get info. I would like to use this info to put together a website with screenshots and videos.

Anyone know of other sites I can consult to put this list together?

    Thanks

DP is a good source. Using criteria:
    System: NES
    Section(s): US Game Releases
    Styles:
    Memory/Puzzle
    Point & Click/Puzzle
    Logic/Puzzle
    Action/Puzzle
And hitting search in the DP Online Rarity Guide I get the list:
    Adventures of Lolo II, The
    Adventures of Lolo III, The
    Adventures of Lolo, The
    Boulder Dash
    Classic Concentration
    Crystal Mines
    Dizzy the Adventurer (Aladdin)
    Dr. Mario
    Fantastic Adventures of Dizzy
    Fantastic Adventures of Dizzy (Aladdin)
    Hatris
    Kickle Cubicle
    King's Quest V
    Klax
    Krazy Kreatures
    Lemmings
    Linus Spacehead's Cosmic Crusade
    Linus Spacehead's Cosmic Crusade (Aladdin)
    Loopz
    Maniac Mansion
    Mermaids of Atlantis
    Palamedes
    Pipe Dream
    Puzzle
    Puzznic
    Pyramid
    Shockwave
    Simpsons, The: Krusty's Funhouse
    Solomon's Key
    Solstice
    Tetris
    Tetris (Tengen)
    Tetris 2
    Tiles of Fate
    Tombs & Treasure
    Yoshi
    Yoshi's Cookie

And BTW, there have been plenty of disputes over how to classify games. What one site declares a Puzzler may not be on another site.

Dizzy the Adventurer isn't really a puzzle game, it's more of an adventure game.

Yeah, I know that some games fall into a grey area regarding their genre. On those games, I will make a comment as to what other genre it may fall into.

Thanks for your help so far. This has been a project I have been wanting to do for a long time, since I love the NES and puzzlers.

Plus, I get to play all these games, some for the first time.

You can take that one up with the DP editors. Just post about it in the Collector Guides and Rarity Database forum. If it's a reasonable correction then it'll be updated at some point. With the classic guide to be released at some point it's always a nifty assistance to bring it to their attention.

What about Bannana? I think I would consider it a puzzle game.

That's on my list of games to look at. I am slowly going through the process of checking a list of games I have to make sure they are all puzzlers. I am mainly sticking to english games but some Japanese games are playable without knowing Japanese so I will include those also.

Yep, they're on my list. Fire 'N Ice is definitely an inclusion, need to check the others out.

As for Flipull, that is a great game that is also definitely an inclusion.

I have a quesion for you guys. Since there is going to be quite a number of games on this list and writing a description of each will take some time, who would be interested in writing some summaries for these games to help out?

    Full credit provided of course.

You should use Stan Stepanic's "NTSC and PAL NES List". His list covers every game along with a short description. I have found his list very helpful and spot-on accurate as far as his recommendations. It can be found at www.nesworld.com

It seems that a lot of the games are greyed out and don't have links. Was this the page http://test.64scener.com/gameindex.p...t&page=neslist or am I missing something?

For the games with links, there is not much info on the actual gameplay which is what I want to highlight on my site.

How about Famicom games? Like Konami's Moai Kun (no english required) is a good one I think.

You are looking at the wrong list. You need to download Stan's list.
It is the 5th list from the bottom on this page:
    http://www.nesworld.com/gamelists.php
    It is called:
"NTSC AND PAL NES GAME LIST VER. 3 ( 1.1MB WORD FILE! )"
Just click on the [Read] button .

I sometimes carry this list around with me and have found many great games using his recommendations. I don't think I have found one game that I disagree with him on.

Sudoku. While not a licensed NES game it is still a puzzle game.

Funny you brought that one up, I was just playing it. It is quite a good game, although that youtube link put me to shame

Thanks for the file MachineGex, bloody hell that would have taken a lot of effort to put together. There is a bit of a mistake on Aussie Rules Footy though, in Australia soccer and football refer to two different games. But I'm just being picky. It's a very good resource.

And for god's sake, has sudoku infiltrated every corner of the planet?
