I picked up one of these a few weeks ago. Haven't seen one on ebay in that time to compare it to. Anyone know the general rarity and approx. value of this item?
If I read right, it was a Nintendo Power mail order item?
Here's a pic of it:

I have one as well.
You're right about it being a Nintendo Power mail order item. I've only seen a couple on eBay...ever. They seem to be quite rare, and I would be interested to know how many others on DP have one. As far as value...that's a tough one to answer with no real comparison.

However, I think people just don't realize how hard this is to find. One day it might jump in value. Nothing like this, though...

Obviously, the Millenium controller is much rarer than the DK version, but the funny thing is that DK controller auction only had 27 page hits...almost no visibility at all. The Millenium controller by comparison had 1200+ page hits...which means a lot more people are aware of it and interested in it. I think that the DK controller may not be as well known as the Millenium controller. That added to the fact that there is a VERY small number of those Millenium controllers out there. There's probably no way to know how many of those DK controllers there are.
Yeah, I just felt like posting the Millenium one because I SO wanted to bid. That was the only contest ever from NP that I entered because I wanted that controller so much... oh well.
The DK64 Banana we'll probably never know how many sold, but I'm happy to have one even though I never did use it, and it's the last christmas gift I received from my Grandpa before he passed so the sentimental worth will always be much greater than any monetary value it might have in the future.
I remember seeing one of these at a game show (NWCGE 2K6 Vancouver), and that's the only time I've ever seen one in person.
