What would the reason be for N64 games being so high in the area of value??? Yeah, I can see some of the later releases, but Super Mario 64 is $21???? It has a rarity of 1, so maybe I'm missing something???

People are just selling it for what will sell, so apparently it can still sell for that price. I have to agree though, I wish they would be lower, then I could really start collecting for it.
But at least here, you could go down to the TRU and pick up a copy of Conker's BFD for 10 bucks.
Anything with a name brand license will sell for a lot more on the used market, regardless of quality of the game.
On a visit last week, my local Toys R Us had a whole stack of Perfect Dark, yours for the low low price of $9.98 on Clearance. Also, surprisingly, quite a few Dreamcast games as well...

PS: Circuit City also tends to have a ton of closeout N64 stuff, though it is starting to get tougher to find some of the better bargain games. And my own store still has a single copy of one of the WWF games for about $3...

Unlike most systems that died prematurely, the N64 never really went through the same clearance that systems like the DC or the Saturn did. In fact, even here in Los Angeles, I never saw many of the first party N64 titles for anything below $40 or so. I would assume Nintendo just basically refused to give retailers any merchandise credit for the cartridges or just took back the stock at some point and destroyed it. With the exception of BFD and Perfect Dark, and some minor third party titles that were liquidated through Fry's or Best Buy, I never got any N64 game for less than around full retail price. There is apparently still demand as I have been in a few independent videogame stores and seen parents come in asking for N64 games only to be directed to EB or Gamestop which appear to be the last repositories of used N64 titles.
