Default SMS a/v out - image goes black and white

Although it was heavily popular in Brazil, I never had a Master System. I'm undecided between getting an adapter for my Mega Drive/Megavision, or going collector (yeah, i'm starting to get into it, and it's all you guys' fault ) and buying the console itself.

I found a brazilian Master System II (here, it's the first model SMS with Alex Kidd in the memory) for R$ 75,00, which is a reasonably good price for a Model I around here.

But one thing is bugging me: the seller (a good, trustworthy guy, bought my NES from him) told me that, although the RF signal is just fine, the a/v out video signal goes black and white after some time of gaming.

I wonder if some of you guys know what could be the problem, and if it's easily fixed. I know I could just use rf anyways, but the fact that the a/v is not working properly would still haunt me forever.

Thanks in advance. And sorry if this problem was already adressed here - I got owned by the search thingie!

    Hi!
I'm not very familiar with the Tectoy Master System II....Does it have RCA A/V jacks or an A/V port connector?.....Does the problem exist with both the video and audio or just the video alone?....Could be a faulty capacitor.....

I don't know for sure, but I suppose it has normal a/v jacks. I'll ask the seller about it. And, from what he told me, I assume the problem is just with the video signal.

    Thanks!

Let us know whenever you get the system and maybe snap a few pics of the board...The problem could also be related to the color subcarrier crystal (xtal)....

Ok. I'll let you know IF I end up buying it. My brother told me that the friend who gave me the Megavision might still have the SMS adaptor that came bundled with it (yeah, the Megavision is that cool. I love that thing!), so I'll probably stick to that by now.

I'll still ask the seller about jacks/ port connector issue, anyway. Now I got curious.

    Thanks again for the feedback!
