Default Which PS2 mod-chip do you use?

I've just got a PS2 just to play imports on, but I don't know anything about mod-chips at all. Perhaps you could recommend one?

    - I want to be able to play USA/JAP/EU games
    - Region Free DVD
    - Back-ups

    Thanks!

I use a DMS4 Pro chip on my slim PS2. Plays everything I throw at it - backups, imports, PAL discs.

The Matrix Infinity is also a good chip. Does everything the DMS4 Pro chip can do.

Only drawback is that they are both solder chips and are a pain to install if you don't know what you are doing. There is a solderless version of the DMS4 chip called E.Z.I., but I'm not sure if they still make it anymore.

Or just get a flip top case mod with Swap Magic. Doesn't work as well as a chip but it's the most popular method of playing imports & backups on the PS2.

Not directly. It will allow you to load up a media player which can do what you want. A modded original xbox is better suited for playing avi files through xbox media center.

I'm using the DMS4 Lite, it plays EVERYTHING!

All dvds, ps2 games from all regions, ps1 games from all regions etc. Best thing i've ever bought.

Does a soft-modded ps2 allow you to play imports?

I've got a softmodded ps2 and final fantasy X (Eu) and can't get it to work.

I ordered one modbo 4.0 for my PS2 form this site: http://www.modchip-wizard.com/ Great service and pretty cheap too, recommended.

I also bought a XenoGC for my gamecube to be able to play american games on my japanese GC. I know about the mod you can do, but I didn't want to make holes and stuff in it so I chose the chip instead. All I wanted from the chip was to make it region-free, and it says it does that so I think it'll be nice.

I've installed my modbo 4 now. It only took me like, 6 hours or so (^_^; ) (I'm a still a beginner at soldering) but now it's working.

It's not a bad chip I guess, but to my GREAT disappointment there are still some ps1 games that cannot be played...
After installing the chip, I really wanted to play some classic survival horror games, so I took out my japanese Dino Crysis which I haven't played for ages now.
As you already guessed, this game of course had some kind of anti-mod protection. After the warning sign "this game contains violence etc..." a big red circle apperared on screen telling me that this game was not meant to be played on my machine.

This really pissed me off, because when you read the info on modbo 4 it says "allows you to play ALL games" and "supports anti-mod games" which is a lie!

I'm now considering to sell my modbo 4 to buy another chip, one that allows you to play ALL games - including the protected ones!!!
Can anyone please tell me a chip that does this!? Would be very much appreciated.

It's the japanese version of Dino Crisis and I have a PAL PS2, so if I disable the chip the PS2 won't even read the disc...
