Xenogears: the manga or series?

This discussion came up on another board I'm on but you think the story of Xenogears itself would lend itself well enough into a manga or an anime series?

Probably. Then again, Xenogears is halfway to being an anime already, with its echoes of everything from Macross to Orguss 02 to Battle Angel to Evangelion.

Of course, making a game into an animated series requires either a highly popular title or a publisher willing to pony up the funding. With the rights to Xenogears suspended between Square and Namco, I doubt that either company would be interested in making a Xenogears anime. Still, the Namco RPG Tales of Eternia spawned its own TV show, so maybe there's hope for a similar take on Xenosaga.
