Default Nes new 72 pin connector too tight for cartridge contacts? will it ruin carts?

i put a new 72 pin connector in one of my nes systems and when i put a cart in it seems so good and tight that im worried it might ruin or scrape away the
contacts on the carts.had anybody had these worries or had troubles with there carts being too worn out by the tight connector? i went back to my other nes system that works most of the time but has a stock connector.

I remember not even thinking about that back when my NES was brand new. I don't think anyone else did either.

What goes through my mind is who even remembers how tight the original pins where. One would expect them to loosen up after twenty or so years of settling.

I think this question was answered in a similar thread not too long ago.

But to answer the question, unless you are a heavy user and are putting in and removing cartridges many times a day, there shouldn't be an issue for quiet awhile.

I do. I remember thinking that it was neat that there was no insertion force.

When I've restored NES connectors they do get pretty tight. If you're really that worried, put a cart in the NES, lower the elevator and leave it there until the pins get loose a little.

I haven't had any problems. I would also like to point out that (at least with mine) you do not need to push the cartridge down if you replaced the 72 with one of the eBay specials. That in itself will extend the life of the connector.

Also, don't use a Game Genie.

Some carts' boards are thicker than others (the original arcade Mario Bros.). You should avoid using these until your pins have settled, also.

The original Nintendo brand connectors didn't have the super tightness to them that the newer aftermarket ones do..

I personally like the zero insertion force Nintendo brand ones myself, but they are harder to find and more expensive...

Some of the aftermarket connectors seem extremely tight. Tight to the point that you have to grab the nes and violently struggle with the cart just to get it to release. In those cases it's best to carefully adjust the pins to a more acceptable level.

The aftermarket one I installed was very tight at first, but has loosened up after maybe 50 or so cartridges?

The best jokes don't need explaining, but she started out tight.
