Default Can anyone here shed some light on this Atari promotional mug? (pics)

I have had a tough time getting any info on this mug I've had for years, I know I've posted this before but I like to repost every few years as possibly a new member might have some info...I picked it up at a flea market close to 10 years ago and from time to time I try to get any info on it. Here's the shots:

I looked up the NBC logo (Proud "N" Logo) on the mug and found it was used from 1979 through 1986, the script under the Atari logo reads "A Warner Communications Company" and I know Atari was purchased by Warner in 1976, partially sold in 1984 followed by the sale of the arcade division in 1985.

This is all I know...this mug has to be from 1979 to around 1985...quite a bit of time. Why it was made and what merger/project Atari and NBC had I do not know.

Does anyone else have any info that would help shed some light on this goofy mug I've had sitting on a shelf for years?

No clue, but that is a freakin' great mug! Gold trim and all. Maybe some bigwig drank his expresso out of that sucker!

I like game related mugs...call me weird. I have some of thsoe Turbografx mugs (Bloody Wolf and Devils Crush) and while they have never been used, the urge to drink some Columbian out of them is pretty extreme

I'm guessing that Atari at one point may have had a show lined up with NBC featuring their video games. I know Starcade was originally supposed to air on NBC but I don't believe it was in any way affiliated with Atari. Anyhow, like I said, I'm guessing.

Have you brought this item up over at the Atari Age forums? Someone overthere might have some info on your mug.

Back then Atari was like Nintendo to most people. Everybody thought Atari was going to last forever like SEGA. However that did not occur. Atari is also in Blade Runner in the back ground a couple of times.

It is a form of advertisment to get Atari people to watch NBC as with Nintendo getting people to buy Dominos Pizza.

    Sorry my flashlight is broken.

Cool mug. I can say that the photo you posted shows a Mac "Mighty" mouse, and an HP printer, with some sort of action figure being chased by a Ford Mustang on top.
Condoleezza Rice is nice, but I prefer A Roni!

That is sweet. I'd love to find some other gaming related mugs to use at the office.

Ok, here's what I know about the mug. It was primarily used to drink coffee from, or at least the form and style suggests so. It may have been used to gather water from the office water bubbler, but may also have been used to water cubicle plant life.

Also, it has gold trim, so hand-wash only.
That, and I'm a troll. Man, whatever happenned to that really tiny text we used to be able to use. WTF?
