Default Whats worth it? Rare and Spensive Video Games.

Ok we know that there are some titles that just are rare but not necessarily that great. In my book something like the texas chainsaw massacre for the atari is a rare and expensive game , however I dont find it to be a great game to play. The games that are rare and expensive doesn't always equate to a quality game. Leave it up to the collectors to partake in those kind of games for its collectibility.

However most people want to buy a game because its a good game. Most of us consider ourselves gamers and don't like paying big price tags for great games. Most of us rather not pay the cash but we do it cause we enjoy hidden gems and highly acclaimed titles that didn't receive high production numbers.Which games do you find the most worthy of paying premium a for? What games are fun enough and worth the extra cash?

Some people may argue that this game is "not all that", but I *really* love Magical Chase. I spent $330 on the hucard, and I just do not regret it at all. I could have purchased the Japanese version for over $100 less, but it is a little different (not like that matters) and it does not help me complete a USA TG16 set (that DOES matter to me).

So, purchased to complete the set, but equally purchased because it is just a damn good game.

I am in agreement that Magical Chase is a very good game. See avatar
I was lucky I guess as I had got the game cheap many years ago.

I spent $200 on a boxed Recca a couple years back and I find it to be worth every thing I spend for it.
I can say similar things for Eliminate Down as I pay $160 and enjoy it much. But Recca was worth every thing I pay and is one of my all time favorites.

Rodland for NES is a blast. It reminds me of a cross between Bubble Bobble and Mr. Do's Castle. The Pal version goes for around $200, but the famicom version is almost completely in english. I wish I could say I owned the PAL version, but I am happy with just playing the game. I took the famciom game and stuck it in an extra Gyromite cart and printed up a nice label. It looks great and it saved me about $175. Mr. Gimmick is another high dollar PAL NES game that gets really good praise. I actually have this game (real version)but have yet to really play it.

I never really cared for most of the Euro NES rarities, they can be found far cheaper on the Famicom (RodLand, Mr. Gimmick), or are retitled games that are common enough in the US. Another one is Elite, but that one was released on the computers here too.

I bought some Famicom games that I paid quite a bit for, like Recca as TurboGenesis did, and a gold Punch Out cart.

Brigandine Legend of Forsena, Tactics Ogre Let Us Cling Together, and Suikoden 2 are all rare US releases for the Playstation. All three are great games.

Usually though, most rare games that suck still aren't expensive games. If it's expensive and most people want it, it's usually a decent game that's highly overrated. Nothing that usually sucks though(usually.)

One of the only games I've noticed that has quite a high price tag and it's a horrible game. Valkyrie Profile. However this won't really fit the rare games because it's crap, solely because everyone loves this game. The game is praised left and right and it honestly doesn't deserve the praise. Valkyrie Profile is nothing more than a boring repetitive button masher(and yes, I know you time your hits, but after you got it down, you repeatedly do the same string of timed hits for awhile.) Awful game.

I don't agree with Valkyrie Profile being a horrible game, just overpriced, not *that* rare, and overrated, much like Final Fantasy 7. It's not that hard to find if you're willing to dig around for it in stores, I've had 5 or so copies of that game before.

Well Im here to talk about good games people pay a high premium for, I would argue that the topic you bring up is not the same. Maybe I would agree to that post if a explanation was given , rather than simply having a link posted. But since there isn't an explanation or real connection given in your post , please don't bring up something irrelevant to the topic. Thank you and good luck in the future.

Edit: On topic, I would pay the going eBay rate for Radiant Silvergun.

Final Fantasy VII immediately comes to mind, because it used to be a regular citizen of the Book Broker bargain bin.

The end of the Saturn had some great games that are expensive now (Not top end expensive but still up there)
Panzer Dragoon Orta, Burning Rangers, Shining Fore 3 and the House of the Dead are 4 of the best games on the Saturn, and four of the highest priced.

Chotetsu Brikinger for the Neo CD is a great game -- damn near impossible to find as it's a Neo CD exclusive.

Keo Flying Squadron and Snatcher for the Sega CD. Both can fetch some money and both are worth it. I got a good deal on my Keo Flying Squadron, and it was over $100. It is by far one of the best shooters on Sega CD

I had got Keio long ago at bargin price. and then a couple years ago, I went to go play and when I removed the disc from the case… SNAP! the disc broke clean in half

I spent about 2 month on ebay and had to pay I think it was $130 for another one. I knew well going in that the game had raise in price but I enjoyed the game and to have my copy break I was willing to pay high price for replacement.

Spiderman web of fire is pretty underwhelming for the price youll pay. id say its about on par with any other $5 genesis beat-em-up.
