    Default Pilotwings!

I just hooked up my SNES in my office with a little Commodore 1702 so I can play some games while waiting for stuff to reboot/etc

And Pilotwings! I'm addicted to it again. I had forgotten how much fun it was. My original SNES games were SMW (of course), Simcity, Pilotwings and FF2. I've started to play my SNES again with only those four games in the rotation.

I was very pleased with myself to get 190/200 on the first trials not having played in like 10 years on my first shot. Working my way through the game now

I totally keep breaking my legs

I believe Pilotwings was my third SNES game after SMW and F-Zero.. I was never very good at it but I remember when you would get a really spectacular score, your instructor's eyes would be all stretched out of proportion and creepy looking. Loved the biplane to death, also the jetpack. Found the hang-glider portions to be sort of frustrating. Still, I wish N would unveil a Wiiquel

I didn't get my first copy of Pilotwings until more recently, maybe 6 years ago or so, but I enjoyed it very much. I actually got Pilotwings for Nintendo 64 first and I loved that version.

I remember seeing the advertisements for Pilotwings for the SNES (before it came out) as kid and wanting the game. For some reason, which I can't remember, I didn't get it.

I was worried after playing the 64 version it wouldn't be nearly as good, but I was wrong. It held up well and I enjoy playing that version as well.

I always loved the training levels, but hated the Helicopter levels on the SNES version.

Awesome game, Pilotwings. Among early SNES efforts, I would argue it to be the best specimen of Mode 7 techniques being used to markedly improve gameplay rather than to simply offer cosmetic novelty. The hang glider stages can be a bitch, but they're my definite favourite of the Pilotwings aeronautical buffet - so much more to keep in mind and work around. Skydiving still gives me something of a rush. Plus, the music is damned catchy.

LOVED LOVED LOVED this game as a youth, and still do to this day. It was the 3rd SNES game I ever played behind SMW and F-Zero.

And the helicopter missions were my favorite part, though pretty tough.
RIP bargora, you will be greatly missed. That is how we do things on Giedion Prime.

Never played it until 1999 when I got it in a SNES lot that I traded SaGa Frontier (PSX) for. I had wanted to play FF3 again and was going through the carts and saw Pilotwings. Thought to myself "Flight sim? Feh" and tested it thinking it'd be trade bait. 3 hours later I was indefinitely hooked and it became the 3rd most played SNES game for me ever. Other two: F-Zero and FF3 (6... whatever).

If anyone has a snes and is still on the fence check it out - it's a great game that surprised many people.

Pilotwings was one of my favorite SNES games, along with Super Mario World, F-Zero, Super Castlevania IV, SimCity, Yoshi's Island, Street Fighter II, and Donkey Kong Country 2.

I actually beat Pilotwings in 1992. There's no way I'd have the patience to ever do that again.

Pilotwings is a great game, indeed. The game is relaxing, frustrating, fun, and the music is peaceful too. But where's the fire button??

Anyway, if you want to see what Pilotwings was going to be BEFORE they removed the shooting, check out these pics:

    Dragonfly, very early (1988):

    and later, in 1989:

Also, the released game still has the "helicopter" stage selection icon hidden in the tiles/background...

    Ah, Pilotwings.

If there's one Nintendo game that needs to come back, it's Pilotwings. Too bad Paradigm Entertainment went under, and that Factor 5 GCN Pilotwings never came to anything. Nintendo could always make one themselves, but I haven't heard anything about that other than that Wii MotorSports Airplane thing.

Would be silly not to make one on Wii or even DS, both systems are ideal for Pilotwings.

I dug up my japanese n64 copy while going through boxes (and 4 controllers, yay!)

Now I just need to find the N64... I never played that version.

Wasn't Pilotwings also called Flight Club at some point? I remember reading that in EGM in the very early 1990s.

I'm really hoping there's a Pilotwings Wii in the works. I'm sure Nintendo could do something absolutely amazing with the motion controls.

Until then, they could at least release Pilotwings 64 on the VC.
