Anyone intrested in this Wii game? Supposidly, it's coming out December 4th. That's less than two weeks, and I haven't seen any hands-on reviews. Anyone have any news?

I really don't like the new design for the main character, but the promise of having better variation in the enemy designs and positions intrigues me. Shame they didn't put more effort into brushing it up on the technical side (ie. widescreen support) and the last time I checked, they still had a bit of a ways to go to getting the control hammered out just right.
But seriously, aside from the color choices, that main character looks absolutely terrible.

It uses the PS2 version as a base, but the gameplay has been pretty significantly overhauled, apparently. Tons of new enemies, different enemy placements, etc. As to why it's taking so long, apparently because they can't figure out how to get the control just right.
...which kind of makes me wonder why they even bothered in the first place.

Loved the PS2 game and might check this out after the holidays for the Wii...anyone know how much it will cost?.

I believe I saw them review this on X-play and they also tore it aart. The PS2 version got decent reviews. I thought this was mostly a port so I can't see it being as bad as the reviews suggest...?
Sounds like a lot of the beef is from how little they actually did to improve it and how negligible the improvements were to actually making it a better game. The original came out before titles like God of War or Ninja Gaiden (over 6 years ago!) and, in hindsight, is actually pretty "ho-hum". In particular, it seems most people hate the auto targeting feature, platforming elements and questionable fixed camera angles. Would have been nice if they'd actually reworked the gameplay more to match the improvements on the genre from competing games.
I did a quick and dirty scan of the Game Informer review for ya'll. If you want to have some fun tearing it apart, they clearly state that Rygar on PS2 was on the high end of average back when it came out, which goes against the magazine's review for it (9.0/10 in the Dec 2002 issue). Though considering review inflation during that time period, that might actually be an accurate score?
edit - also, full price? wtf? This is one of those games that'd be an insta-buy in the bargain bin but will probably move all of a dozen copies at $40.

I wonder if Princess Britney Spears is still in it. I heard a rumor you get to play her in shaved head mode if you beat it...it's a nod to Kratos.
Am I the only one that noticed that chick was the spitting digitized image of the pop star?

Just play the game...as soon as you see the princess chick or whatever, it's her...unmistakeable.
