hey brotha, your about to hump my leg here....

I bought a sega CD model 2 system off ebay a couple of years ago.. and it didnt power up... the red light on the system would flash for only a second when i hit the power button... so i knew something was wrong..

Turns out.... bad fuse! you gotta open that sucker up and change out a fuse.. luckly i had a friend at the time who works at radio shack.... needless to say he was damn good with a soldering iron..

he got that fuse in there in no time, and BAM! she works great till this day.

If you know someone whos good with soldering.. this should take more then 10 minutes tops.

let me know how it turns out. Enjoy. http://www.mrvfone.com.au/sega/fuse.htm

Yes, the fuse might be the problem. I got the same problem when i bought mine a couple of years ago. But usually its because people use the wrong AC adaptor!. So if your system was working back then, i think the problem might be corrosion or a lose connection at the expansion slot.
    Sega all tha way...

Yep, it's almost always the fuse. In fact, I recently posted a thread about this, and found a great replacement from mouser. Here's the link: Sega CD Fuse

Also, make ABSOLUTELY certain that you are NOT using a SNES power supply. I know it fits, but DO NOT put it in there, please.

Also, this tutorial will get you started so you can actually find where the fuse is. I don't actually know why the tutorial uses a different fuse. But this at least will help you get started:

Mine would not power up either.

I looked at a diagram online and bypassed the stupid fuse. My fuse was on the bottom of the board. I simply made a bypass with a little piece of wire.

I hit power and it came on.

It works fine now, and I don't consider myself a soldering pro.
