    Default List of French exclusives?

So I have taken 4 years of French in High School, and surprisingly in that time I got to a good conversational level of fluency. However, soon college class scheduling struck me and I no longer have the time to invest into further French classes. Hence, it would be fantastic to combine my hobby of gaming/collecting with the beneficial endeavor of practicing my French.

So my question is, does anybody have some sort of list (or can help me compile a list of) French-language only releases? I would prefer to start with DS and PSP as there is no region lockout, but I will maintain a list with all of the French exclusives we can think of to help out anybody with a similar interest.

Also, does anybody have a reliable website where I can order such games? A seller in the US would be fantastic, as I am sure shipping from France would be a bear.

    Thanks for your help!

    Lists:

    NTSC-US that play in French

    DS:
    Dragon Quest IV
    Dragon Quest V

    NES:
    Kirby

    SNES:
The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past
    Donkey Kong Country 2
    Donkey Kong Country 3

    PS2:
    Chaos Legion

    GB:
    Power Quest

    Exclusives:

    Dreamcast:
    Taxi 2: Le Jeu

    PAL games with French Selection:

There are a couple of games in french on the DS :
    - Dragon Quest IV (VERY good translation)
    - Final Fantasy IV
    - Castlevania : Order of Ecclesia

To play them in french, change the language of your DS. This is the same for a couple of XBox 360 games, such as Blue Dragon and Lost Odyssey.

    On the GB :
    - Link's Awakening

    On the NES :
    - Kirby

    On the SNES :
    - Zelda Lttp

These gamnes are all NTSC-US. But if you want a lot of other french games, you can buy them on eBay France. I have a friend that does that and he's very happy with his french games

Awesome, I edited the list to include both exclusives and NTSC-US games that will play in French.

Feel free to add more as you see more!

Also, I have checked out ebay France and I will likely buy from there if there is no better option. But I didn't really think about NTSC-US games that had multiple language versions...that is neat.

Here are some games (in addition the the games that have already been listed ) that have french language:

    - Secret of Mana SNES
    - Terranigma SNES
    - Jurassic Park SNES
    - Some Dragonball games for SNES (i dont remember their exact titles right now, sorry)

    - Dragonball NES
    - Les Chevaliers du Zodiaque NES

These games are in PAL format though (atleast as far as i know) and Secret of Mana, Terranigma and Jurassic Park arent exclusives since these games have a english version as well, and i dont know if they excist in NTSC format, so i am not sure how interesting these games might be for you, but i thought i would mention these games anyway

Hmmm.. Unless I'm mistaken I think Donkey Kong Country 2 and 3 for SNES can be turned to french from the menu.

    Thanks for the additions everybody!

I included the PAL games with French language selection, but I am sure the number of PAL games with French is utterly mind-boggling. I guess it might be more efficient to just do exclusives and NTSC releases that can be set to French.

I will look thru my own ds collection and see what comes up.

Update: my own small collection had an interesting few that did have French...and surprisingly some that didnt (Pokemon Diamond?)

On a side note: is this interesting or helpful to anybody else aside from me?

It's a French release. And PAL as far as I know.

    Here's some screenshots and such:

Zelda: Phantom Hourglass (DS) can be played in French.

I highly recommend Dragon Quest IV: the French translation is excellent. And unlike the English version, there isn't abuse of "accents" in the dialogs, which was a big annoying after a while.

I did end up picking this up a few days back, and I am really enjoying it! I am still in Chapter 2, and everybody is speaking in a semi-Cyrillic alphabet and it is really annoying when i have to translate it from their writing into roman letters and then into english...but aside from that, it has been really useful!

As Daria already mentioned, it is only released for the NES in France, atleast i havnt seen the game in any other versions. I would guess there exist a Famicom version of the game too (with japanese text i assume), but unfortunately i am not sure :\ Sorry for the late reply by the way, i didnt see your question before now.

Edited list again, Children of Mana does not work.

Also, a question, is it possible to change the language settings on the Gamecube at all? How about the PS2? I haven't checked the settings on the PS2 yet, but I am playing thru Twilight Princess right now on the Gamecube and I haven't seen any way at all to change the language settings. The DS Zelda had a language changing ability so I would be surprised if Twilight Princess did not have one as well. Any ideas?

Some system had a french Dragon Ball Z game but I can't remember which one. I read about it in the DP price guides.

As far as I know changing the language setting on your PS2 won't affect the language in your games.

You can still change the PS2 settings to French language, but it will only affects the menus, which isn't really useful.

So I was hunting thru the Best Buy DS section and Trauma Center 2 caught my eye. I looked at the back and to my surprise it was in both French and English! That means that gameplay would be in French or English too right?

Wrong! Even with my DS set to French, the game is still in English. It will make the game a bit easier for me to play but was still disappointing nontheless.

Is that strange that the packaging is all bilingual, yet the game is only in English?

Also, does anybody know if Final Fantasy 3 for DS plays in French?

    List updated as well.

That's Taxi 2: Le Jeu. Dreamcast game only released in France.

I hear it's terrible, very hard to find, and the fact that it's a racer means that your French interaction is going to be very limited.
