I don't have time to search right now, but I specifically remember that there were HuCards with storage space on them that allowed you to transfer files between the backup RAM and the HuCard. I don't know if they were legit or pirated, but I definitely remember reading something about these back in the day.

It wouldn't surprise me if they were legit in Japan because games (Cosmic Fantasy II and Exile: Wicked Phenomenon) take up most, if not all the available memory. My friend was pissed when he had to delete his Y's files in order to play CFII, only to realize that it was a terrible game.

You can back up and restore saves using the Tennokoe Bank PCE card (use a converter to the Tg16). But, not to the PC. You can just go from memory to card and back.

Yeah, I remember hearing of that, but a PC solution is what I seek.

There is no "easy" way to do it, but there are 2 ways at least:

    1) Get Nanami's bank and follow the instructions... kind of a problem because Zeograd.com appears to be permanently down. Anyway, it involves reading the screen output to a hex editor on your PC, then burning the file along with the Nanami ISO. The first part is a bit onerous.

    2) Download my BRAM editor and burn it on a (PCE/TG-)CD. Works similarly to Nanami's bank (read off the screen to a hex editor) except you can also edit each byte in a save file on the actual PCE hardware.

Duh...didn't see that you were trying to back it up to the PC. Sorry.

hehe i think he thought backups of the games not the saves. Damn beaten to it on the sega cd ram cart ive been eyeing that thing for awhile. Haven't taken the plunge on it yet though, anyone own one is it any good. I heard in some ways the original was better but that was awhile ago and i now forget the ways.
