Default Removing the BlockBuster Disc Label, impossible? NO

In the past week I have hit about 8 BB stores taking advantage of the 25% off sale. I have gone HOG WILD on N64,Xbox,GC and PSX titles.

I picked up a Tomba 2 forthe PSX for only 2.99 and decided to use it in my experiment to remove the disc label. I remember someone saying it was IMPOSSIBLE. Well here is what I did

I took a small plate and paced the disc on it. Then I drenched it with GOO GONE (which works wonders on the BB stickers). I waited about 1/2 hour and then slow peeled the disc label off. Yes it came off with ease. I rinsed the disc and gently dried it. Works like a charm. So for those who said it could not be done.... well it can.

Speaking of BB , man I have spent about 100.00 on about 30-35 N64 titles. I picked up some great titles yesterday like
Zelda Majora Mask, Scooby Doo, Rugrats, Tony Hawk 1,2,3, Dr Mario, Yoshi, Indiana Jones,Jet Force Gemini and many many more. I removed all the labels. Some games were even complete .

Anyone looking for specific titles, just let me know

I've found that a fine-grain sandpaper will also remove the label, leaving you a bright, shiny drink coaster.

Hrm, that's not a half bad idea. My store has 2 copies of Fatal Frame i was going to pick up (one to keep, one to resell), but the both of them have the disc shields.

Did it leave any residue on the disc at all, or did it just all come off?

    I tried it..on two ps1 discs..
I left them soaked in Goo Gone for a 1/2 hour..

I didn't work for me..It actually made one of the discs feel like it was getting soft..weak.
    This might sound crazy..
I took out the disc and I tried to pull off the label softly....I didn't budge..
Then The disc felt so soft that it cracked in half like nothing.....I'm out of a $2.99 PS1 game..
The blue ink came off though..
I was so pissed I went and put a bid on the same game on ebay..
I had tried the game and it was fine when I got it..no cracks..
i wonder why It started feeling soft..Maybe the Goo Gone was too strong?

The other disc I cleaned off..and left alone..
The Goo Gone worked on other things for me but not today..
I'm back to taking off the labels with my finger nails...
Thanks for the info..Maybe it will work on other discs...for me.

Sorry to hear your disc cracked. That is weird.

To answer the question someone posted

There was no residue left on the disc when I was done

I guess if your going to try , experiment with a cheap game first.

Heh, someone isn't going to the Restoration Forum. We covered this a while ago.

I wouldn't soak the entire disc in Goo Gone. Try squirting some on a paper towel and saturating the lable. Let it sit a while and try to peel up as much of the lable as you can very gently with a finger nail. Keep doing this until the label is gone.

That's Ok..Thanks..It was worth the try..
I was hoping it would work for me..
I'm glad it was a cheap game..I'll get another..
I really hate the way they put the labels on the discs..and when they put them over the paper front label on the N64 games..
I feel so lucky when I buy something from BB cheap, and find out that they didn't put a label on the game...that makes me feel like I really scored..

Probably meant that Kaine himself didn't get to grab one, dsullo.
