Smile PS1 Speed run/load times question?

If you are going to do a speed run on a PS1 do you have to say which Play Station model number you used. I'm sure some are faster. Especialy the load times. I meen you could even use a PS2. Then I think also a brand new fresh out the box one is also better. Would a PS3 be even better. What about the broad band adapter for PS2 didn't that add some Ram for better load times? Any one else ever think about this stuff.

I would think that load times would have to be factored out of the equation. There'd be no way to compare against different systems.

    1. Model of PS1 doesn't matter. Condition of the drive unit does matter, but then so does the condition of the disc and lens.
    2. Broadband adapter for PS2 isn't going to change anything.

To be honest, no, I've never thought about this. Sorry.

Doesn't the PS2 have that 'fast gameplay' option? Does that count for loading?

yea, Dangerboy did some comparisons for various games on his site for both the faster CD ROM access and for the smoothing option. Sometimes the increased disc access speed helps, sometimes it doesn't, sometimes it causes the game to crash.
