    Is the RCA Yellow jack really needed??

    I have a later PS & PS2

    You don't have to plug it into the back of the PS1, you can plug it into the TV. The cord is hella long.

    Yeah, it just has to be somewhere in between the video cable from the PlayStation to the TV. It's how the Guncon is designed. If you're missing the original cable, a standard RCA cable with splitter (or a piggyback cable, etc.) will work fine.
