Hard to say. The original Retro Game Center game was released in November '07, and in North America in January '09. Still no announcement of a NA release. I might end up just importing it, because I really want to check out the Demon Returns games and Star Prince SA, amongst other things. Not looking forward to the MSX version of Cosmic Gate though o_O

Sorry, long time no reply. I hope you've had better luck with the Red Guardia now Ed.

Not sure if the second game will get translated. Depends on the team who did it and Namco Bandai. Would definitely pick it up if it did though. Even though I've got loads to do still on the first game as haven't played my DS in ages.

Curses, this game's getting hard to find. Should have picked it up at EB or Wal-Mart when I had the chance. No word on that sequel, is there?

I bet you can find one at a Best Buy somewhere. We've had 2 copies for what seems like FOREVER.
RIP bargora, you will be greatly missed. That is how we do things on Giedion Prime.

Aye, Best Buy stocks it, but not Future Shop for some reason. Too bad it's still $30 CDN there - and that there are no Best Buys in town. Maybe when I go on vacation next month, hopefully. Otherwise, I can always try negotiating with Amazon, I suppose.

Wow I had completely forgotten that I started this thread, almost a year ago now. I just tonight finished the final challenge of the game and I have to say I thoroughly enjoyed it. You can really tell that a lot of love went into making this title and that the creators really appreciate the source material, not only the show but also the retro style of games they were copying. Not only were all of the games a lot of fun, but some of them could be placed up there among my favorites, like Guadia Quest and Robot Ninja Haggleman 3. Some of them really test your skills too, I'm pretty sure I'm on the verge of carpal tunnel thanks to Star Prince and the credits sequence. Just such a fantastic game and a wonderful experience. Even though I grew up in the 16-bit era it really reminded me of my childhood playing games with my brothers.

On a related note, did anyone wait for a full half hour at the end screen after the credits? Or is it just me? =P
They give you a secret message but I can't seem to figure out the significance of it. Anyone else wanna check it out? I'm purposely trying to not spoil anything (even though it's only minor), but just thought I'd let you guys know it's there.

XSeed already statted the def WON'T be bringing the sequel over. The first game didn't sell near well enough to make bringing the second over financially feasible.

Are there any translation guides up for the second one for us importers? I've heard it requires a good deal of Japanese.

Augh, what the heck. XSeed makes a good port of a good game (I suppose Sol Divide, the previous XS Games release I own, is a good port, but...) and it doesn't sell well.

By a strange coincidence I played around with this a bit more the last couple days. Got a new highscore in Cosmic Gate (only around 733K at about stage 54, need to at least break a million) and worked on remembering how to play Star Prince.

I'll be importing the second one, I guess. It'll take forever to understand what's going on, but the gameplay alone will be worth it. If I figure out the game I'll give my comments as usual.

Yeah I'm with you ed. Might just have to suck it up. Anyone know a place other than play-asia that might have it cheaper?

I haven't played it but it sounds like something I'd love to get my hands on. Any clue how many games it includes?

There's only one RPG again so it wouldn't be too hard. Only thing that sucks is we won't be able to experience the unique video game magazine aspect and get secret codes etc.

Ed, when you pick it up, tell me how difficult it is if you didn't read any of the magazines or any translation guide. Including the RPG.

I hate to ask this, but do you have a source for that statement?

I've seen them state that sales were disappointing and that it would have to continue to be a slow but steady seller (Such as Boom Blox on the Wii) to warrant localizing and releasing the sequel, making things like discussing this at forums such as this one and other ways to raise awareness and sales of the game important.

But I've never seen a definitive answer stating it wasn't going to happen or heard anything about the sales of the original game after a disappointing opening few weeks of sales.

I picked this game up today(overlooked it when it first came out, I guess at the time I just thought it was a game made to make fun of old school), and omg Cosmic Gate was amazing(lol, and I haven't played a normal shooter in well over 20 years, since back then RPG games were rare, and Tactic/RPGs were unheard of). The last challenge was a bit hard, but the game was so good, I didn't mind. Now Haggleman is a diff story, the game is annoying, and the challenges are insanely hard sigh. If this game was last, it wouldn't be a big deal, but dam you need to do it to unlock another game.

The magazine feature, as well as what the kid says is awesome though(omg you know this game was developed by people who were gamers back then, when they start talking about smashing the controllers when they die lol, just awesome).

PS. On top of that Guardia Quest I think is the 6th game(atleast the other games before it with the exception of haggleman look like they'll be good).

[starts crying], damit, there's a haggleman 2 in this as well bah.
