I avoid Nintendo games and hardware and Sony games, I'll collect just about every thing else. In the past couple years, I've also started collecting electronic handhelds from the '70s and '80s, like Mattel's Football and similar games.
Saturn US/Import
PSone US
SNES
PS3
X360
Turbo Grafx/PC Engine
I collect Metal Gear Solid items, and I bet I have more items than anyone on here
Gamecube demos
Game Boy
NES
SNES/SFC
Famicom
Sega Genesis
Sega Saturn
Intellivision
Playstation
Anything else really.
I am a big fan of computer game. i will collect the 16 bit area game for my system ...............
I mainly collect Sega Genesis/CD/32X games (Trying to finish-up those libraries one day). Besides those, the Saturn and Dreamcast libraries seem small enough to want to finish-up one day also. And beyond those, virtually any console I own or will ever own. But besides my main Sega craze, I only collect shmups, RPGs, action Platformers and the like.
I stop at sports, shovelware, party games and pretty much anything that plays solely on gadgetry (i.e.-motion controls). I am however, a stickler for mint CIB, though (especially when it comes to Sega consoles). The only consoles I've decided to collect for strictly loose are the Atari and Nintendo Cart-based systems (with handhelds like the GB and GG still undecided).
I used to collect Star Wars toys from the 90s, but I gave that up eons ago. Toys of any sort really fail to do it for me. I guess I've tried to collect virtually anything as I was growing up (from stamps and comic books to action figures and knives), but I also gave all of those up. I think the only other item I actually collect besides select video games are hard cover 1st print/1st editions of books I admire (mainly victorian or contemporary Fantasy/Sci-Fi). But that became expensive real fast. So, though not altogether "thrown" aside, it must be "gently" put aside for the time being.
P.S.> My biggest pet-peeve are "Plushy" collectors. I'm talking about fully grown, male gamers who extend their enthusiasm to anything and everything from Beanie Baby Marios to life-size Sonic plushies. I really don't get it. It's not that I've grown over that phase, it's that I never saw plushies and teddie bears as items that could hold-up as "collectible." Those things get nasty, fast! yuck.

Lately, I have been focusing on finiding old skool board games. Love to play them as well just to have an idea of what people were doing when they were board with no TV or video games...

I've not really been collecting for the last little bit (mostly consolidating what I already own) but I mostly collect arcade and stuff to play, anymore. I also collect books (all genres), shot glasses/barware, comics (probably what I've been concentrating on the most), horror movie collectables, and sports memobralia.
shifting strictly to famicom only!

Current focus: CIB games. Only games that I think are good and fun to play. For any console or handheld. I am trying to move away from loose cartridges or discs and sell those off.
I mostly collect Jazwres Sonic toys and video games of course.

I have been collecting systems and i am moving on the games now. i even created a quick site to show off my finds. The virtual boy was my favorite find.

Odd as it may seem, I'm interested in collecting licensed games because I actually like to play them, unlike most gamers. One of my favorites is the NES version of Spy vs. Spy, one of the best two-player games ever made. My friend and I used to spend hours blowing each other up and we thought it was the funniest thing in the world. Another good one is Who Framed Roger Rabbit. I don't know about anyone else, but I stayed up all night playing that game when I first got it. And, of course, the Capcom Disney games are awesome.
I collect NES, NES II, SNES, N64, Wii, PSX, PSOne, PS2, PS3, XBox, XBox 360, SMS/SMS II, SMD/SMD II, SMC/SMC II, Saturn, Dreamcast.... I think that's it...
Im all about every gen of gaming, as well as most genres. So I guess in a way its a little harder to collect when Im not only focusing on the current gen but also for classic gens as well, I try and finance myself well. Though I currently want to start collecting more for my N64, SNES, NES, Playstation 1, Genesis to start off, and do some online collecting when I can for the Wonderswan, Famicom, and a few others also to start off and then Ill move on from there.
