Default NAVA Gamer's Meeting, February 28th (NOW WITH PHOTOS)

NAVA = North Atlantic Videogame Afficionados. It's FREE, and YOU are invited to attend.

    Previously at NAVA...

    - Gamers got to try some rare and obscure PlayStation imports. Pepsiman and Vib Ribbon were favorites.
    - Left 4 Dead had been recently installed in the Internet Gaming Center and was clearly the most popular game of the day.
    - The store's first Christmas grab-bag took place. Don Evanoff got a clock!
    - A multi-game tournament determined the winner of a brand new Mega Man 9 press kit. Big money prize!
    - Many games and systems traded hands between attendees.
    - Pictures tell it best:

    http://www.digitpress.com/images/store/index_41.htm

There was no January NAVA so we're expecting a big turnout for this last event of the winter season. Bring your game face, trade box, and "show and tell" items and prepare for a day of gaming shenanigans!

We'll be holding a tournament at 6pm, most likely Street Fighter IV, so if you want in, be sure to be here for sign-ups at 5pm.

When: Saturday, February 28th, noon to midnight.
    Where: Digital Press Videogames: http://tinyurl.com/yscakm
What happens: Gaming, trading, tournaments, big prizes! Attendance is FREE. Half price for kids!
What can I bring?: Snacks, soda and beer are always appreciated. Cakes have been very popular as well.

Call it what you want, but I am calling it return of the GAC.

I am requesting at least one classic gaming console be hooked up. Anything 8-bit and below is fine with me. I also would not be adverse to seeing a monitor and classic game system be set up in said basement in front of that comfy couch down there for us VIPs.

I should be there, as long as I don't get sick before the event.

I vote for Atari 8-bit action. How about 1 HDTV upstairs, and one Commodore monitor (or the nice Sony one)?

    Cool.

How about 2 HDTVs upstairs and a Commodore monitor downstairs? I don't think the table down there can support the weight of the Sony. But there's no reason why we can't set up a system down there.

All I know for right now is that I'll be selling a Gamecube. I'll have moe when I get a complete list.

I've always allowed people to use their own controllers as long as there are no turbo/slo-mo etc features on them.

I will have approximately 60 common Atari 2600 games for trade. I might dig out some other stuff from my collection, too.

This is what I am looking to trade for:

    Atari 2600 Highly wanted items:
    Subterranea
Any other games I don't have

    Atari 8-bit wanted items:
A few SIO cables of various sizes (1-6 feet)
    SIO2PC cable
Cheap Atari 8-bit carts/discs/tapes (looking for games only, maybe other good stuff)
    S-video cable

    Other wanted accessories:
    Nice condition Jaguar controller x2
    Colecovision Controller (broken is good)
Colecovision Super Action Controller (broken is good)
    Wico Command Trackball (Atari 2600)
Wico Competition Pro Joystick (Atari 2600)
    Intellivision 2 Power Supply

    Other wanted games:
*the dirtier/cheaper, the better - even if the entire label is gone, I still want it*
World Heroes 2 Jet MVS or AES Cart
    Winter Games 7800 carts
    Crystal Castles/Dig Dug 2600 carts
    20th Century Fox Carts
    Xonox double enders
    Mogul Maniac 2600 cart

    Needed orphans:
    Nintendo 64:
    Cruis'n Exotica - everything
    Diddy Kong Racing - Box
    GoldenEye - Box
    Rush 2 - Box
    Sega Dreamcast:
    Gunbird 2 - everything

Looks like I may be making an appearance for the first time in quite a while too.

I think I can help you out with all of the above.

As for the SIO2PC cable, I've got at least 2, one of them is even built neatly into a 130XE if you are interested in picking up a new system. This way you only need to hookup a serial cable to the back of the system and not worry about SIO cables at all. (For a bit of history this 130XE was owned by John Hardie and purchased at Philly Classic 2 or 3 - I don't know if this increases or decreases its value). I have SIO cables too, as well as various carts and even a tape or two.

To anyone else, post your wants/needs or send me a PM. I have all but gotten out of console gaming in favor of arcades and pinball. I have tons of stuff that I need to try to convert to cash: Dreamcast, NES, 2600, Genesis/Nomad, Jaguar, Lynx, TG-16. Just about everything except for the NES and Genesis are boxed and complete. I really need to get rid of a lot of this stuff but I likely won't have room to bring everything, so send me a PM to ensure I bring anything you might be interested in.

I hope you can make it.

I'm definitely interested in getting some of that 8-bit stuff. I got my first 8-bit a couple weeks ago, so I am just starting out with it. Just don't let John Hardie get to before me. I also might be interested in R3/R4 and rarer 2600 carts. I really can't spend too much money though, I need to save some for MGC.

You should post the info about the tournament on shoryuken.com. There are always tournament announcements there. There you can reach a huge community.
