Default Sharp/NES TV Combo- not working

Curious as to what a Sharp/NES unit is going for now. Seller claims that it has a "blown fuse" and isn't working. What kind of price are we looking at here?

Although they typically go for $100-250, the main deterant will always be shipping cost. That would always scare most people because it's going to be atleast $50-100 for shipping in the US alone.

I would be picking it up in person, but I'd have to drive about an hour to get there.

So 100-250 is what they go for working? I was under the impression these things were extremely rare and expensive. He's asking 100.00 or best offer but the non-working condition scares me. He claims blown fuse, but what if it's a fried circuitboard or tube? I didn't know if 50.00 was lowball or highball.

It might be a blown power supply, that recently happened with a Toshiba 19" CRT TV with me(power surge hit the house). Different repair shops asked for different amounts, ranging from $85-$125.

Ask him to get estimates from repair shops first(if you can get him to do this), he might lower the price if he realizes how expensive a repair it can be, it might not be that simple or cheap. I'm assuming you won't try to fix it yourself, it might be cheaper to do that if you know what you're doing.

I do not see why 50$ is unreasonable.

As someone who isn't electronically inclined, I would probably say a non-working tv (console, whatever) might have a blown fuse, too. It just sounds right, especially to other people who don't know anything about electronics. What I'm saying is, I wouldn't count on it being an easy or cheap repair. Expect the worst and then you can only be pleansantly surprised.

disclaimer: no I'm not saying I would try to be misleading. I would just say something like "The tv doesn't work, it probably just has a blown fuse or something".

That would be misleading, if you have no idea what's wrong with something then don't just guess. Here's something more appropriate to say, "The TV doesn't work, I don't know what's wrong with it. It could be an easy fix, I really have no idea."

Whenever I see people selling broken stuff and say it's probably a cheap and easy fix when they really have no idea, I think they're sleazy. If you don't know something, don't bluff as though you know more than you do.

I would steer clear unless you can actually take an indepth look at it and find out whats wrong. Hell it could have water damage, fire extinguisher damage, a blown fuse, and a whole lot more/less wrong. Proceed with caution, Dr. Crow would.
