Default Saturn Experts.. USB Pads on Ebay- Genuine??

    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/SEGA-Saturn-SS...em280316072339

Are the saturn usb pads all over ebay genuine? Like the example above.

Were the original one's usb even?

Was thinkng about getting a couple as people rave about the saturn controller for 2d play so much but wanted to check here first.

    Thanks.

I think they look legit. I even really examined the pictures and such. Another reason i think its legit is because lots of vintage controllers have been getting the USB conversion lately. For example, THESE] are awesome. So, I think you should be pretty safe if you were to get one. I hope i helped!

The orignal pads aren't USB, but they have released a USB version for the PC(which I own and love).

I'm not sure what they are talking about with "rumble", unless there is a newer revision I don't know about.

If it's a knockoff, it's very close to the original (but hacked for USB, obviously). The only oddity I saw was that the shoulder buttons are black instead of gray. I've never seen that before.

The black shoulder buttons is actually normal for the official USB Saturn pads: http://www.ncsxshop.com/cgi-bin/shop/CS2-0004.html

Wins the thread. I wasn't aware of a "rumble" feature either, which seems suspicious. But the pads definitely do exist, and they also should be somewhat pricey (compared to your average console controller) due to steady demand over the years since release paired with a low production run (although I think there's been a few runs of the product, all quite small though).

Well first of all, the seller is in Hong Kong with more than 10 for sale, so that should be a big red-flag to tell you these are probably some kind of knock-off, bootleg or dismantled controllers with the usb port modded on. Were black saturn controllers released in Japan? i thought they only got white ones and we got black ones.
The pictures in the ebay listing do look exactly like genuine US saturn controllers. The buttons look genuine and the texture on the D-pad is just like that normal saturn controllers.

Keep in mind that the picture might not be exactly what you are getting; the seller has 6600 feedback with a percentage of 99.1%. To get a percentage that low you need a shitload of negative/neutral feedbacks which he has.

I would be really shocked to find out that these are 100% produced by sega. But if they work well and are made from genuine sega controller parts, why not get one? I think if one was going to make bunches of these it would be way nicer to use the white sega controllers, they look way cooler.

HK is a corridor for all kinds of gaming goods; some legit, some not. I've gotten a good number of legit items from HK.

The are genuine in that they are made from the same factory/parts that the official pads were made from. The only difference is that these are not approved by SEGA.

There were a few threads about these at shoryuken.com. Someone even took pics of the circuit board and it is identical to the official ones.

They are legit. I ordered one around Christmas and it is just like my two Saturn controllers. It is a great controller for emulators and can even be used on a PS3; only for PS1 and PS3 games though as PS2 games require the PS button. They're a great and cheap alternative for SFIV; too bad I already have a pair of Hori RAPs modded with Sanwa buttons and button plugs.

They're legit, Sega made them, and they even made a white version. They were made a few years ago, around the same time as the Saturn PS2 pads.

What about those controller converters that let you use a PS2 pad on a PS3? How do those work?

Do these work on Xbox 360?

I have a pair of converters (can't remember which brand off the top of my head), but they work like a charm with my PS2 Hori RAPs. There is no lag what so ever and they even work with Guitar Hero if that's your kind of game; most converters struggle with GH.

No, they don't work on a 360. The 360 doesn't pick up the required USB drivers like the PS3 does.

They even made a silverish/goldish version - which is the one I own. 100% legit, too.

What I meant was, is there a PS button on the converter itself?

Yes, there is a PS button on the PS2 > PS3 converter.

The white version is great! <3 Mine came with my copy of the Mac version of Puyo Puyo Fever.

The description seems to be for a completely different controller. It also mentions analogue sticks, which the Saturn pad doesn't have.

That makes me a sad panda. This is perfect for SF4.
