Default Virtual Boy Display Unit on Ebay.

This is my First created topic..I don't even know if I'm allowed to put a Ebay link in a post..

But I was shocked to find this display unit on ebay,..today..
I recently bought one of these and I'm anxious to see what this one will go for..
I think one of the collectors here might be looking for this..

This unit is heavy..and the seller states that.
This unit does come apart though..the heavy base can be separated from the top part.
    http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...tem=3026826985

My unit had the same graphic problem..I removed a tubed TDK magnet from the power supply and it cleared up the problem..but that could be just my luck.

After that I put a in New,headset, controller and power supply..anyway.
    It's all exchangeable..
The only extra thing in this unit is an extension cord homemade by Nintendo..The connects the controller to the Headset..
    This can't be bought..
The games is a store demo only Wario Land...
I can take picture of the game itself if anyone wants to see it.

My unit was missing the bulb on top..No one carries this bulb but special lighting stores..
I had to special order it..It cost me $19.00..I guess that's why it was missing..No one could get it...I pick it up Thursday.
Home Depot does not carry this bulb...ever..
Picture of my unit...When I first got it..

I wonder if they ever made a unit for the Virtual Boy like the WideBoy for the Game Boy that allowed GameBoy games to be displyed on a TV screen and enabled screen captures. Seems like they would've for developers, testers, magazines.

Man, I'd kill for one of those stand-up VB displays. Wish I had the cash to bid. I've got 2 of the small countertop displays but they are nowhere as cool as these.

Daryl, how did you score your display? Just currious. Also, is it up for trade

    I bought it at a Flea market..for $70.00..
I knew the vendor..and it was dirty..all minty clean now..

I'd never sell/trade it..I've looked for this thing for too long..Thanks for asking..though..
I stepped in poop that day..
I'm gonna give it to my Son..and my entire collection..
He's only 2 and is in love with video games..

I guess I can update this now...

I've been intouch with the seller of the Virtual Boy Display Unit on Ebay..
    (A really nice guy)..

Just as an update..He sold the the Display unit for $1000.00..it was a personal offer from a big company..
The auction was canceled..It cost him $90.00 to ship it..that he paid for..
So he got $910.00 for his unit..

The transaction all went great..I was waiting to post this until every thing was finalized..

Oh, I was gonna say. The auction made it look like it went for $10, and I was feelin' sorry for the guy. :)

If the seller would have let the auction continue 'till the end, he would have gotten alot more for the display. The last one of these on ebay ended up selling for $1500 IIRC. I was planning to bid high on it also.

This is really pissing me off. It seems whenever a rare Virtual Boy item (or anything else videogame related) pops up on ebay, the auction is always ended within the first 24 hours because someone negotiated a private sale with the seller. Sellers can do whatever they want, but they are just missing out on more bids and $$$ by ending their auctions early. It's their loss.

Wow, I remember playing one of these (ONE TIME) back when it was new.

The stand captures your attention quicker than almost any other piece of video gaming equipment.

Too bad the system sucked :/

A certain painting by Titian (the great painter) about the biblical story of Daniel in the Lions den (strangely enough, it goes by that name) was being sold in England. The owner thought it was just an oddity and wasn't expecting to get much for it (I think it's an odd painting myself, but that's besides the point). Anyways, a clever American realized what this was, negotiated a deal with the owner and had the auction cancelled...they walked out of the country with one of England's finer works of art...for something like $20 grand (in the 1970s, I believe).

Of course everybody in England was up in arms about it...in America, we were busy making a spot for it in the National Gallery.

Sometimes it pays to be the person who's negotiating the deals behind the scenes. I suppose you can say..."blah blah sellers" but the fact remains that a lot of sellers--even those who know they've got high ticket items--don't know exactly what they're selling. Find them, and take advantage.

Easier said than done in the video game collecting scene, though.

Auctions being Cancelled happen to me all the time..

Just tonight I got an email for a cancelled auction I bid on..
I emailed the seller..I've delt with him several times..I asked why he cancelled..
He said he got an offer for $100.00 ..shoot I wasn't willing to pay that much..My bid max was $15.00 ..More power to him..
Somebody wanted the item bad enough to offer a high amount.

When I bought my VB display..The vendor wanted more then $70.00 but I talked him down on price...I didn't know they could possible go for that much..I would of shut my mouth..
After getting the $18.00 bulb and looking it over..at home.
I estimated the value to be "maybe"$200.00 to $300.00 due to rarity and condition..at the supreme, supreme Max..and mine is in great condition.
    But now..I'm all messed up....
The value doesn't matter to me,I just like to have it in my collection...
    It's a nice Display..
I have it up high now so I can sit on a chair and play it...

My Step father came over yesterday and he walked right over to it saying "cool".."Turn it on, let me play it"
My MVS Cab usually gets all the attention but this display has taken over..

I have made only two personal offers to sellers..
I knew the sellers and I wanted the games bad enough shell out a high price, one of which my max bid was what I offered,,that one was accepted.

The second offer was refused because the seller said he could get more.
We'll ,It didn't sell for half as much as I offered..

Somethings I find to be really crazy in price...and I figure the sellers must get tons of personal offers.
Like Adventurevisions..I've bid $1500.00 on one of these before.$800.00 on a broken one ..only to get outbid...I was out of my mind but I wanted it/them.
Are they worth $1500.00? or more...?..to me it was because I wanted it..
I could only imagine how many emails the sellers were getting.

Someday I'll find one and have to shell out for it..
