Default Commodore VIC-20 Cassette Tape Games

I found an online site listing and showing pictures of Commodore VIC-20 cassette tape format games here

    http://vic20tapes.org/index.php

I noticed that none of these tapes are listed in the VIC-20 section. I bought a system from ebay for $23 after shipping and it included some games on tape and some on cartridge. I was also able to find a separate tape drive from someone else for $30 so I would be able to play these games on my new VIC-20 system.

Nevermind the details, but I just wanted to point out that these tapes do exist and was wondering why they were not in the database on this site or even on the rival database site http://www.allgame.com

Speaking of which, how accurate are the allgame.com lists when compared to the digitpress list?

I'm a collector, but only to a certain extent.
Not as extreme as Rickstilwell though.[/quote]

The DP guide only covers cartridges, not tapes, which is why they are not listed. I know the guy who owns the Vic20Tapes site there; he's a well-known collector and has some stuff that still needs backing up for Gamebase20. Plenty stuff keeps getting discovered for the machine, it's a fun ride...

I see. I just thought it was strange that both cartridges and CDs were covered, but not tapes and floppies.

Actually, the tapes for the Starpath Supercharger are covered in the Atari 2600 section but those are the only magnetic media I see on here so far.

It is good to see that someone else has stepped in and made their own site for what has not been covered though. When hunting I'll be able to just go by his list.

It makes me wonder what number on the rarity scale these tapes would actually be. Some of the stuff is interesting too. Who can forget a name like "Blue Meanies from Outer Space", which is one of the tapes I'm getting in.

Most of Commodore's own stuff is piss common. After that... well, it depends, but I would say there are plenty of rare tapes and new unlisted games are always being discovered.

You might be interested in Gamebase20 when I finally release v0.2...
