It was originally developed as a Strike sequel, called Future Strike. If you beat Nuclear Strike, at the end it shows you a little teaser of Future Strike, and shows a mech. Starting with Urban Strike, the series wasn't strictly helicopter gameplay. With Future Strike they were intending on branching out even further, with the mech. I'll bet they originally intended to have a helicopter too, but either cut it or replaced it with the "hovercar". I guess as development went on, some changes were made, and they felt it became too different from the Strike games to be titled as such. But it was developed by the same team and the core gameplay is along the same lines. It's also a damn good game.

I'll look into the resemblence if I ever find Future Cop.

It's not nearly as common as the other 2.

Future Cop is a fantastic game,I liked it a lot on the PC... very difficult campaign because of how long the levels were and that you could only save at the end, not during levels (very frustrating for a PC game!), but great. The 2-player co-op campaign and versus modes were also fantastic, some of the best ever really, though I also loved the versus mode against the computer... the way it worked, with those bases to control, attack/defense drones to make, etc, was just really interesting and well done and extremely fun. I didn't know that it was originally supposed to be a Strike game, though... interesting.

As for Nuclear Strike 64, I've heard it's the best version of the game, with improvements versus the earlier PSX and PC releases, but haven't played it on the N64 myself. I'd like to, though, I'd rather have it there.

As for the original three, I've only played much of the first one, really. I really should play Urban and Jungle Strikes sometime.

I never really liked the Strike games on the Genesis. Playing them with the D-Pad was always a hassle, the controls felt really bad.

I thought they controlled beautifully, I'm not sure I understand your complaint.

What's the Lost Missions demo disc? I'm assuming it has content cut out of the final product?

Is there anything else like that for the Strike series? I know the PC release of Jungle Strike had a exclusive bonus level set in Alaska that the console/handheld ports lacked.
