Default Why hasn't Nintendo remade Super Metroid?

If I'm not mistaken, Super Metroid is literally the only SNES game that hasn't been remade on the DS or the GBA. I would buy a DS version of Super Metroid in a heartbeat, as it is such an awesome game. It could be like Castlevania, where the top screen is used for the map and/or character loadout. Seriously, I can't believe that Nintendo hasn't done this yet, especially because they just love to re-release games. I mean, how many systems have they released Super Mario Bros. on? A portable version of Super Metroid would sell great.

You make some excellent points. I'll get right on it.

Not the only SNES game that hasn't been remade. I'm still waiting for Bebe's Kids DS.

I think they were remaking it for GBA but turned it into Metroid Fusion instead.

    Why fix what isn't broken.
Super Metroid came out at the pinnacle of 2D games (16bit era) and basically as I understand it has nothing that needs to be remade or redone. It's a fantastic game and I doubt this viewpoint will change for some time. At least Nintendo remade the Metroid game that needed a remake, "Metroid". If anything, Metroid 2 is the next best candidate in my opinion.

I think he was refering mainly to re-releasing the game. Not trying to "make it better" or re-do it. It does seem like a very Nintendo thing to do to re-release it on the DS and I'm sure many people around here would be exited if/when they do.

I'd love a Metroid Zero Mission style remake for Metroid II.

I'm surprised we're not seeing a Super Metroid rerelease on the DS, I figured (Even though off hand I don't remember the button layout that well) that the lack of a X and Y button on the GBA was the reason it wasn't included with all of the SuperNes remakes, which isn't a problem now on the DS. Didn't seem to harm the two GBA Metroids though, so I doubt I'm correct.

I'd also love to see the two SuperNes Star Fox titles ported to the DS, but too many people are too harsh on the original (Though I still love it) for it probably to ever succeed.

I've never thought about this until now.

I would buy Super Metroid for the DS at full price, and I rarely ever do that.

There are many games that are very polished and perfect when they were released and that didn't stop companies from re-releasing them.

I think that NINTENDO took a wise decision to create an original Metroid and remaking the original and leave Super Metroid in peace.

It's hard for any company not to use their IP and keep the money rolling but many companies abuse from this ... take Final Fantasy for the NES as an example, it was a legendary game on the 90's. Now you can have it on cell phone, gba, psp, ps1, wonderswan ... etc.

The idea of re-releasing Super Metroid may sound good but Nintendo doesn't seem to like it ... better release Mother 3

I'd buy a port of Super Metroid.

It got a VC release, did it not?

Yes, it was released in the Virtual Console

If the game was a potential remake, a release in the VC pretty much kills any chance for a remake ... at least not in a few years.

The one game Nintendo should really remake is the Snes version of Mortal Kombat. Only this time they need to add blood.

Remake and re-release are two very different things. Nintendo I can see from the money stand-point re-releasing SM on DS but a remake, don't hold your breath.

Definitely the game in the series that needs a remake. I beat the game, but I can't replay the game due to how boring it is.

Why remake Super Metroid, though? The game is perfect as it is. The most you'd see, like other people mentioned, is a port but with possible added cutscenes like on Metroid Fusion and Metroid Zero Mission.
Everything in the above post is opinion unless stated otherwise.

I didn't know this was in Brawl ... dude, what's with your capitalization?

edit: oh shit nevermind, I just did the math and you're 14, that's why you capitalize your words like that.

Ok duh...my bad...I was thinking the OP meant "remaking" like the way Final Fantasy III was remade for the DS.
