Default What was the name of this Nintendo cartoon?

Does anyone remember the "other" Nintendo cartoon from the 80's/early 90's? Not Captain N, but a kind of generic cartoon cashing in on The Big N's popularity. Seems like there was a basketball guy (I don't know from what game), a little red ball guy (looked kinda like Cool Spot, but not cool...maybe Qix, or something?) and I think it had one of the guys from NARC in it. Seems like the bad guy was a big fat dude in a white suit...but I may be confusing him with the guy from COPS. Ring any bells? Anyone have any info or links to this thing? I've looked everywhere and keep coming up empty-handed.

    Johnny Arcade.

The fat guy in the suit was Big Boss Man from NARC, though it's pretty easy to confuse him with Big Boss from COPS. Similar name and appearance. Funny, since Big Boss Man was either in a wheelchair or a big head on 4 tiny feet in the game itself.

DiC animated Captain N, COPS, etc. If I had to guess I'd say Nelvana did Johnny Arcade, though it could've been some no-name studio.

Actually it was called "The Power Team." Johnny Arcade was just one of the characters... the only one not from a game.

Edit: Kuros from Wizards and Warriors was also in it as well as BigFoot the monster Truck. All the characters were from Acclaim games. The Basketball player you mentioned was from Arch Rival... Tyrone I believe.

Ahhh, I remember Video Power with Johnny Arcade. Awesome game show that featured kids playing NES games. And the winner could run through a maze full of video games and keep what they had stuck on there vest. I think I'll hit up youtube and see if they have any episodes.

Wow I vaguely remember this show and remember it not being that great. Captain N was a hell of a lot better.

I have the complete set of Captain N on DVD. I wish someone would release this, but I'm sure that's wishful thinking at this point. I preferred Capt. N, but I always enjoyed this cartoon, too. I was a Nintendo whore, though. I had all the books (Bionic Commando and Infiltrator were the best), merchandise, etc. Gotta get to youtube!!

I remember Johnny Arcade's game show. Kids would collect boxed NES games in the final round as their "prizes" and stick them to their suit to hold onto them. Then they prick would go to them after the round and PULL OFF the better games and deny the kid any game he removed from the suit, leaving the poor kid stuck with whatever crap games he didn't pluck free. Guess their limited budget had a quota for games a kid could keep or something but they included his jerk move as PART OF THE SHOW!

It would be the modern day equivalent of a kid being told he CAN'T keep the copies of Mario Galazy or Metroid Prime 3 he collected while letting him keep Carnival Games.
