Default Question for non-backwards compatibile PS3 owners...

This question is for those that have PS3's that won't play PS2 games. I would imagine you still can use the "Memory Card Utility" because all PS3's can play PS1 games.

Question is, can you still store/save/load PS2 memory cards with the Memory Card Utility? Of course you would need the memory card adapter...but I'm just wondering if anyone has tried this. Or do non-PS2-B/C PS3's only let you use PS1 memory cards with the Memory Card Utility?

Hmm, You should be able to use the memory card adapter to get your ps1 saves over to the ps3, and use em no prob on a non-ps2-bc-ps3(uhg).

As for PS2, I'd expect you get the option to create a 'virtual memory card' for ps1 games, since you'd need somewhere to copy them to on the machine. The question is, do you get the same option to create a 'virtual 8meg memory card' like this 60gig does? If so, yeah, you can probably copy ps2 saves over.
If not, sounds like your SOL for the time being

(What's even better is, if you have/had a ps2 HDD, You get to copy all of the saves you'd been dumping on your HDD for years to a memory card ..one..by..one..

That's what I thought. Thanks for the confirmation.

Yep I back up my ps2 saves on my ps3 with the memory card adapter. I have the non backwards compatible 40 gig ps3. I also save another copy to my pc by moving the backups from the ps3 with a harddrive.
