Why USB 2.0? There's absolutely no reason for THAT much speed for something that will only say: Up, A, Down, etc...

You sir, do not play fighting games on a competitive level then. If you did, you would know that even a fraction of a second in lag could mean the difference between you blocking a move and a fireball burning your face off.

In any case, ile settle for something a tiny bit slower ( usb 1.1 ) but the main idea is for me to be able to use a saturn paid on my pc, 360, and ps3 for the numerous fighting games out and coming out this year.

I am reasonably sure a standard length USB 1.0 cable would have less of a delay than your brain's ability to fire a synapse, let alone send a command to your thumb to mash a button.

Especially since the saturn controller is serial anyway...

BTW, USB 2.0 has slightly more lag then USB 1.1. The improvement was mostly on bandwidth. You'll never see the difference in real world applications though.

And have fun when dpad breaks off.

There is a PC Magic Box converter that converts Saturn/Dreamcast/Playstation to USB.

And you would be using a joystick.

Regardless, I think Ile have to buy one of those china knockoffs. I have an extra saturn pad on me and it should just be a matter of unscrewing both and swapping the insides. That way I would fix the bad d-pad problem instantly.

Otherwise though, yeah, those chinese saturn pads are garbage, every one ive seen has the d-pad break off within a week's time.

Well, if you're a DIY sort of person, you could see if this guy's been working on a saturn-usb adapter circuit:

Ahh, the fighting game pad conundrum. I sure did wish they made a lot more Saturn => everything else converters as the Saturn pad was easily one of the best for fighting games. There was an official Saturn USB controller, but its quite rare and also expensive. I feel that the only two controllers that can hold a candle to the Saturn Pad are the Ascii FT2 and the MadKatz XBOX 360 Street Fighter IV FightPad. Both are also expensive (the MadKatz one for no reason IMHO), but not as much as an official Saturn USB pad or a Saturn PSX/PS2 pad.

Since I have a PSX => USB converter and the FightPad is USB, I use those. The only problem with the FightPad is that the triggers (which were changed to normal controller buttons) are registered as a separate axis. Something a few games do not recognize. Luckily, Joy2Key solved that problem.

I also believe getting USB controllers to work on a 360 is hard because something built into 360 controllers serves as a sort of lockout. If memory serves, the XFPS360 adapter needs an actual 360 controller in order to work.

I had the Ascii Pad FT2 (PS2) before and the dpad was just horrible. Even the PS2 Street Fighter controllers are better than it. Dropped $80 on it was was disappointed on the performance, but fortunately I was able to return it. I can't believe they go for that much. Paying even just $10 is a ripoff.

My PS2/PS3 fighting controller tier list goes...

    1: PS2 Sega Saturn pad
    2: PS3 Madcatz SFIV FightPad
3: USB Sega Saturn pad (with genuine Sega dpad/buttons swapped in)
4: PS2 Nubytech SF Anniversary pad
5: PS2 ASCII Pad FT2 & USB Sega Saturn pad (stock)

I'm getting the Neo Geo Pad 2 soon so I'll see how that is...

The FT2 is inferior to others, I agree, but it is a heck of a lot better than a standard PSX/PS2 controller. When it comes to bringing a dpad controller to an arcade, I find that I can only bring the FT2. The only reason I do is because arcade machines that allow independent controller inputs are usually PSX/PS2 ports. Sure did wish other ports were available, or at least least converters for other controllers to PSX/PS2 ports.

Default user feedback of sega saturn usb pad

just to let the 2D fighting game fans and appreciators of quality control pads know...

the saturn usb pads you saw posted earlier and found on ebay for bargain prices ARE NOT cheap china knockoffs! (in fact dont you hate it when
they say "china knockoff" ?? every fukn things made there fools!

anyway.. Ive had mine for 9 months now... and having had a saturn since it
came out, I can say that these usb saturn pads are the exact same feel and quality as the original saturn controller. The only thing different is that
the cord is longer and ends in a usb connector! works excellent on SF4 PC
and all the MAME fighters... PLUS works on the PS3 as well!

if a game does not need analogue sticks/controls, you cannot beat the
saturn pad, period. any appreciator of excellent D-pad response and feel
    and button layout knows this!!!
