Even more so since you bought Bjork.

Thanks for the advice. I was actually going to try out a magic eraser.
Yes, knowing that DWIII is in the clear does help! Congrats, BTW, that must've been exciting.

I don't really like the magic eraser for nes carts. It is an abrasive, so doesn't work well for me on the textured surface. Also, it doesn't take very much use to leave noticeable wear, IMO. I've had mixed results with rubbing alcohol and goo gone: sometimes one OR the other works well, sometimes neither. I'd consider using that enamel remover or whatever it was after testing, but my collection isn't in perfect shape anyway, so I don't stress over it too much.

Yeah, I need something that will work on labels also. I don't know if you noticed the copy of Robocop, but someone has partially colored in the title on the label with an orange marker. >_< I don't worry about writing on the plastic parts, but writing on the actual game label bothers me a bit. At one time I had a bunch of Atari 2600 carts with LARRY written on the end labels. That's something that really gets my goat.
Check my auctions here! I am in the business of finding off-beat things, including video game stuff!

In that case, rubbing alcohol almost always works well. As long as the plastic coating is still intact, at least.

hit up my goodwill like I always do on Monday. This goodwill has been bone dry for the past maybe 3 weeks. So before I walk into the store you can peek in the window as you walk towards the door and I noticed its full...So I got a little excited. First went straight for the display case, which is where they usually keep games and systems. They had about 20 xbox games...nothing interesting mainly sports and gambling games, 2 copies of Sonic 2 complete and a PS1.

So by this time by hopes were gone since that is where they keep their games so I just go to the VHS/CD section which always has mountains of crap there. as I browse I noticed the classic NTSC logo, it was Marvel Super Heroes...nice, manual was a little beat up but I got it anyways. Then I noticed Syphon Filter...nice, might as well pick it up and be 1 step closer to completing the series. By this point I was happy cause these guys usually know whats up, so they don't have PS1 games in the CDs. I keep looking when i find more PS1 games in very poor condition otherwise I would have picked them up, notable titles were Twisted Metal 4 and Cool Boarders 2, but I'm not complaining. I hit the end of the CD section when I noticed a bright green logo catch my eye in a double case...I say to myself how awesome it would be if its Final Fantasy 7 (my roman numerals knowledge is poor at best) so I grab it...spine did say Final Fantasy, turn it around and low and behold it was Final Fantasy 7...considering the condition of the other games, i thought this would be beat up, but it wasn't. It was nearly flawless.

    Pretty good Monday trip:

Marvel Super Heroes (beat up manual) 3.99
    Syphon Filter - 3.99
    Final Fantasy 7 GH - 3.99

Man, the places near me, too! I don't know what jackasses keep stealing the discs out of the cases, but I want to camp out the whole day at one of the Goodwills just so I can beat the crap out of the guy when I spot him!

Thankfully, Goodwills near me have started storing some of their media in the glass display cases. It just sucks having to wait around five minutes for someone to open it, then get sort of escorted to the checkout to make sure I pay for it.

My Goodwills have taken a much more rogue attempt at curbing theft. They tape everything to everything with industrial strength masking tape.

Recently, they started doing it to games, the things most commonly stolen.

I still peel back the tape to make sure the disc is in there. There was a taped, empty case for Doom II for the longest time.

Dude! I have been wanting the Mario, Starfox, and Donkey Kong statues FOREVER! Where did you get it and what you pay (if you don't mind)?

    So Lucky!

Guy on Craigslist sold it to me for $40.

I'd LOVE to get the other ones to go with Fox. Anyone know where these statues originally were used?

That is awesome, nice find! I remember seeing the Mario one at my local Best Buy back around '98 when the N64 was in its heyday. I have never seen a Fox or Donkey Kong anywhere.

After a year of being dead, my favorite Goodwill is once again showing signs of life. Too bad my luck sucks.

A few weeks back I just missed out on the second Turbografx16 I've ever seen in the wild (and the first that wasn't waaaaay overpriced.)

Last weekend they had a stack of games. I picked out a copy of Journey to Silius, thank you Happy Video Game Nerd. $3.99 for that, which is more than I usually pay. (I was going to put it back, but my wife was sick of my wishy-washiness and bought it.)

Due to bad box art and a Seattle location, I also snagged a copy of Shadowrun. But being a cheapscate, I decided to save $1.99 and changed my mind at the checkout counter. Way to go clever guy--turns out Shadowrun is an R4/$25.

On the happy side, though, I did walk out with Street Fighter Collection for the Saturn. $2.99. Nice! An R4/$40 and a good game to boot. Happy!

But the happy feeling was short lived as a day later I found out it's a 2 disk game and I only walked out with disk 1. Oh well. I still dig the box art and can still play the games on disk 1. Guess I'm on the hunt for disk 2 now.

One of the goodwills I frequent has a horrible disc theft problem. There's been a few times when I've been a good little citizen and taken all the empties up to the register to let them know. And you can always just pop the hinges on a jewel case and open it backwards if it's taped.

    Today's finds:

THX 1138: The George Lucas Director's Cut (DVD, new) - $2
Ryuichi Sakamoto: Soundbytes (CD) - $1
Vangelis: Heaven and Hell - $1
Royal Crown Revue: Kings of Gangster Bop - $1

And I found an old style, hacker-like clacky keyboard for a buck. The thing appears to be brand new, just dusty and old. It doesn't even have a PS/2 plug... I have an adapter somewhere though! I've been looking for one of these for YEARS. Hopefully it works.

On the other hand, I'd like to kick myself because I passed on three PS1 memory cards for five bucks. Two were official Sony ones. Augh. When I came back they were gone. I figured I couldn't afford them... and it turns out someone bought some stuff from me while I was away so I could. Blah.
