Default retrospective blog by NES composer Neil Baldwin

Hey everyone, I've been thoroughly enjoying this site so I figured I'd de-lurk and share it.

    http://dutycyclegenerator.com/

    Introduction:

I wrote my first music on the NES 20 years ago and have recently been amazed to discover that the "chip music" scene is still going strong. So, in a bid to do my bit to keep the history alive and because some of my music is either missing, mis-credited or in some cases never even saw the light of day, I decided I'd put together a little document of my work and experiences.
I'm so stoked on the level of detail he's been providing. His music is quite excellent and I could only hope that more composers will eventually offer an equally detailed insight on their works.

There was also an irc interview with him, posted here-

First of all, thanks for de-lurking and sharing this site. I have some interest in classic video game music and I think this is a really interesting look into the process of writing and creating music using the NES's hardware (or limitations, depending on how you look at it). I've messed around with making music on my VIC-20, but I don't have much experience with this sort of thing. Reading this blog actually makes me want to try writing some video game music.

On the other hand, I use Mario Paint composer a lot

Definitely neat stuff. I've always admired the art of composing for that format, especially how it was done back then. It's nice to see some detailed explanations of his techniques and such.
