New Genesis Consoles ETA: Summer 2009

My mistake I read that they were shipping yours out awhile back. Going back now I see that you are still waiting.

This is why I hate doing pre-orders, but I'm forced into it to keep up with competition. Manufacturers are never right on their ETAs and seem to constantly lie to you (whether on purpose I don't know) to keep you dangling. Hyperkin has been pretty honest this time, but still sucks to not have them when you were told you would get them originally.

So then I have customers getting mad at me because nothing is shipping. Which I understand because when you pay money and see nothing, especially when you were told it gets frustrating real quick. This is why I normally give out some swag with my pre-orders as a reward I guess for pre-ordering.

Yeah, I understand. As soon as I know when I am getting the handheld, I will confirm it here as it may help you guys not have as much pain and hopefully help you guage when you will get yours in.

After watching that video, the audio on my system doesn't sound as bad as that one. I hope that this isn't a case of sounds better from system to systems.

All Sega Atgames have the same clone hardware....The Goac wanna be, the "Titan"1.0 32Bit RISC chip.....Same crap, different days, 100% for sure....

Just got an -email from Hyperkin stating they are delaying the release of the GenMobile and GenCore to early October to work on compatibility and sound.

Heard from Innex. The portables have been held back for another two to three weeks.

There will be a playable demo unit of the GenCore at the Portland Retro Gaming Expo this Sunday. There might be a GenMobile unit, but I wouldn't count on it.

I'll definitely be interested in hearing what it's like. I've been humming and hawing over that pre-order button, but I'd rather wait and see what hands-on impressions are like. I know there's a strong argument for the original hardware, but the tiny size of these clone units is really appealing when you're tapped out for space.

I have been told that all work that is going to be done on these systems has been done, and that they are in production right now. They should ship in "early October". Both systems from both companies (Hyperkin and Innex) use the same hardware, so they should be ready at the same time.

I had a playable GenMobile at my booth at the Portland Retro Gaming Expo last weekend, and people were very excited when they played the system.

Rumor has it that the systems from Innex will be at stores and in testers hands by Thursday. We shall see where this goes this time.

Hi! Just got 5 firecores here at my store, I didnt order the handheld, I did order the Retro-Gen handheld it will arrive by saturday I think.



About the Firecore, The sound is terrible! Tested about 50 games and they all play, including the Game Genie and EA games. The menu is simple and the games play well. The box says it is Complatible with Firecore SD and supports Pseudo-32BIT Games.. dunno what that means anyways. You can plug original genesis controllers and they work, the firecore controllers are quite good except the right and left directional buttons you have to press at an exact position since its so sensitive it will detect up or down. The console has a Sega Genesis label and a red fire core label on top.

The compatibility was nice and the sound was pretty good. I know that the final design wasn't finalized, but it's going to be interesting to test the Innex model up against this. Hopefully I can get the final revision of the Hyperkin system too. Also, the review for the Hyperkin system is in Classic Video Gamer Magazine Issue #2.
